ps3 shutting off...

    right i have a ps3 that i got from america last week, it was a refurb from gamestop in new york. got it home, updated its software, so now when im playing any of the few games that i got its just shutting down at irregular periods of time, cud happen an hour into playing or game or sooner or later...

    it beeps three times and shuts down to a red flashing led on the front, i have to reset it at the back to get it working again

    anyone know anything about this problem? where do i stand with this will sony europe replace it for me, or do i now have to send it back to the gamestop in new york to send me another refurb..??

    okay, anyone know if this problem im having is common? is it just gonna die in the very near future if this is happening now? anyone else experienced this problem??

    Is the fan running? Sounds like its overheating and then shutting down? Do you have it placed vertical or horizontal?

    vertically, its on top of a glass stand so i cant see it being that sensitive

    Try playing it horizontal... ps's seem to b a bit tempormental when vertical

    nope keeps happening randomly, shuts down beeps three times and leads to a flashing red led on the front, i have to flick the switch at the back to get it back running again. but obv this isnt good enough so its gonna have to go back, what a hassle.... to request another refurb or just ask for money back now.... hmmm,, bearing in mind its gonna cost me to send over the ps3 to america and probably for them to send me the replacement

    This is a common ish problem. Have you searched the internet for it? Here is a POSSIBLE fix.

    More than likely a hard disk issue. Try buy a cheap 2.5" laptop hard drive and put it in.

    As fr buying it in America, good luck with your warranty there, mate.
