We just wrote a review of 'Hey Ladies' on the thishereboogie.com blog, that'd be my favourite hip-hop song. </shameless plug>

    Honourable mentions:
    - "Looking for the Perfect Beat" by Afrikaa Bambaataa (sp.?)
    - "N.Y. State of Mind" by Nas
    - "Fight the Power" by P.E.
    - "Shame on a Nigga" by Wu-Tang Clan
    - "Nuthin But A G-Thang" by Dre (another review on our blog)
    - "Gin & Juice" by Snoop

I also quite like "Jesus Walks", but I'll likely get shot down over that!

Put me in the firing line too....'Jesus Walks' is a Modern Day Classic along with 'Kanye's WorkOut Plan'. The suprising thing is that i'm not really a fan of Kanye!

Just a quick one to add --- AZ,Nas - Life's a Bitch and How you living.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,497 ✭✭✭Poccington

    NaS Ft. AZ - Life's A Bitch
    Wu Tang Clan - Triumph

Those 2 songs are there because they both contain 2 of the best opening verses I've ever heard, the flow is untouchable in both. AZ outshines NaS completely on Life's A Bitch, even though NaS drops a more than solid verse..... AZ just beasted. Then Deck just killed it on Triumph, as soon as I first heard "I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies / and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these / mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery" I was just like

    KP - B.I.B.L.E(Off of GZA's Liquid Swords)
    Common - The Light
Wu Tang - Protect Ya Neck
Raekwon Ft. NaS - Verbal Intercourse
Ghostface - All That I Got Is You
    The Firm - Phone Tap

There's just so many to mention, I could go all day!

    I'll pick 4.

For me Protect Ya Neck is awesome. Method Man and ODB's ryhmes on it are magic. What an introduction from the Clan.

Also I love December 4 and 99 Problems by Jay Z. Great stuff.

Finally Don't Believe the Hype but I could've had nearly anything off Nation of Millions. Yeah Boooyee!
