    questions 7 and 8 were impossible. Fcuked up vectors and forget cosine rule proof:(. think i got full marks in 3 and 6. overall i'd say i got a b. paper1 was way easier

    Qu6c

    i) 11 choose 4 = 330
    ii) one candidate has to be picked so now you only have 10 to choose 3 from = 120
    iii) Junior cycle 6 choose 2 = 15
    senior cycle 5 choose 2 = 10
    Junior cycle AND senior cycle = 15 X 10 = 150

    iv) Junior cycle only 6 choose 4 = 15
    15 of the 330 possible combinations will have only junior cycle candidates
    15/33 = 1/22

    Well we only covered Q 8 in class, but the Q9 a and b that was on our paper was actually straight forward enough just from the probablity required for the other question,

    I was so happy,
    it was a lovely paper.
    Q8 was lovely and easy, no integration by parts, which I HATE.
    :)

    any idea how to do question 6 part c and question 1 (b) p2,has been wrecking my head:mad:

    OK, 6 (c) (i)

    there are (x + 5 + 1) = x + 6 total

    r= red x=x w=white
    scenario:
    1. 1r,1x,1w (or)
    2. 1r,1w,1x (or) etc.
    3. 1w,1r,1x
    4, 1w,1x,1r
    5, 1x,1r,1w
    6, 1x,1w,1r

    So my theory was to find the probability of each, and add them together.
    1. 5/(x+6).x/(x+5).1/(x+4) =5x/(x+6)(x+5)(x+4)
    2. 5/(x+6).1/(x+5).x/(x+4) =5x/(x+6)(x+5)(x+4) When I got here, I realized that the total of each is the same for all 6. So the overall probability = 6.5x/(x+6)(x+5)(x+4) = 30x/(x+6)(x+5)(x+4), ans

    now, part (ii)

    all discs black x(x-1)(x-2)/(x+6)(x+5)(x+4)

    let these equal, divisors cancel, 30x=x(x-1)(x-2)

    x^2 - 3x + -28= 0

    (x-7)(x+4)
    x=7 or x=-4

    Cant have -4 discs, ans = 7 (QED)

    I love saying that, couldn't resist!!

    I'm not gonna post it up, but for 1 (b) its in form a^2 + b^2 = r^2,

    therefore, centre: (0,0) and r = \/13 (not needed)

    slope r = 3/2
    Perp. slope = -2/3

    point (2,3) is on the line,

    y-3= -2/3(x-2)

    cuts x axis at y = 0
    -9=-2x+4
    x=(13/2)=K

    Pass paper was very do-able but I stilled messed up, I'm really really bad at maths so I really hope I pass, I reckon I passed the first paper but I'm not sure about this one! Everyone came out really pleased about it and I'm really worried that I failed!

    I think I got the same thing for Q9. I cant beleive people do Q8. Q9 is so much easier.

    For Q9 b) iii di u use a= 1/6 and r= 25/36 ???

I covered both Q8 and Q9 and Question 9 was probably the easiest on the paper. the only bad part was b) iii I think some people wouldnd know how to do it but Q8 c) was terible When I saw it i decided to do Q9
