So whats the deal with the campaign 13ers, when is the last possible intake for them or is there one? In other words how long may some people be hangin in the balance before they know they definitely arent in

I think theres a post a few pages back listing the intakes. Think Dec is the last one from 13 and January starts the C14 intakes but dont quote me on that.

Anyone else just watched Big Brother.......I am speechless.....:p LOL

By the looks of things its roughly a year from your IST to garnerville and a lot of people dont get there, I've applied to the fire service in the meantime but it seems to be a similar recruitment process

Yea the odds definitely seem to be against. But it seems that some people get in 2nd 3rd or even 4th time round so it looks like the more experience with the AC the better, in the longrun. so im happy with that. as long as I get in some day. Have you applied for c14 Judge?

    Hi Maura (& all)
I read a few pages back from psni that if you have been found suitable, your place is held open until vetting or other issues are resolved. Don't think there is a last draft date as such.

Aye I'm in C14, taking it 1 step at a time and not building up any hopes. I do think this board is a big help and will definately help a lot of us get farther than we would have without it.

    For Alanbelfast

The difference between LASEK and LASIK is: LASIK is where they make an incision, notice the 'I' in LASIK! Lasek, which I got done, is just the laser without any incision. I thought it wasnt so bad but then the gritty feeling set in and I had to lie low for a day! Friend of mine got it the wavefront lasik done in the morning and was out shopping in the afternoon! Which one suits you depends on the thickness of your cornea, the size of your pupils in low light, the shape of your eyeball and other factors. We both have better than 20/20 vision now, well worth it, so far...

    yep mine early August.
On the positive, plenty of time to prepare, on the negative lots of time to sweat it out!!

At least they cant get the merit pool finalised til we've all been seen so everyone will be waiting same as us!!

Wonder when the last AC is??

Hi everyone, I'm new to this. Great Thread by the way. Some great tips on roleplay. I was just wondering does anyone have any Information about the other two exercises: the Written Exercise and the Interview. Much appreciated.

the written exercise isnt to bad its based on how you would respond to a conflicting problem and how you would approach it, its sorta common sense, how to deal with the problem in the best possible way that suits everyone! the situational interview for me was the hardest, it sorta puts you on the spot as you have limited time to think of an answer and respond, again its how you would deal with an awkward problem or dillema, the only good thing about it is that you dont have have a member of consensia breathing down your neck like the role plays:D!

    Hi Bookemdanno

What did they fail you on at med and what did you do for the appeal if you don't mind me asking ??

    Hi alan

Failed my medical on body composite, think I was just over on the bmi, I'm a big enough guy but play squash football rugby golf and swim, if your in any way worried about it, go for a run for twenty mins while your tea is in the oven

I got a letter from the doctor and a little extra training went a long way, after I appealed it I was invited to do the pca test in garnerville, which I panicked over for weeks but was well under the time so they could see no reason not to put me through.

    hope this answers your question

Hi! Got my letter of failure sayin i got 21 in my ist a few weeks ago, thought there was somethin up with such a low score! Phoned Consensia up n asked about it and was told that its checked twice etc and that i pretty much couldn't have been given the wrong score. I still wasn't happy so then i wrote a letter asking for a recount.... Just got a phonecall today telling me it was a mistake on their part and I had actually passed in the first place!!!!!

I'm glad I didnt just sit back and wait for them to lower it to 21:D:D:D:D:D:D!!!! just kiddin just kiddin!!! stil glad i checked though! and as always well done to all the psni hopefulls.

I am flabergasted for sure now. Can't believe they made such a mistake, and not even a wee mark here or there but your talking maybe 30 points. mmmmmm

Its a bit shocking to think the people who recruit police officers can make such obvious mistakes in their process.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 171 ✭✭Ali08

Well they did say that it was Quality Control that had noticed it, and I would have found out anyway....but I'm not so sure, didn't wanna take any chances lol!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 246 ✭✭Maura2145

if they can make a mistake like that, whats to say they haven't made other mistakes, such as in your case. Give them a ring mate.

quite a lot of time has elapsed since your test Ali so im not convinved Quality control would have realised it. Coincidental it has been 'noticed' straight after you brought it to their attention too...hmmm
