I'd get a ticket to the new fangled "America" I've heard about and become a Highwayman, stealing from the rich English oppressors and giving their wives and daughters a good rogering!!

HAVE ATCHA!! <-- The Irish for "Have at Thee!"

realistically either a farmer or a factory worker.

With my gimpy eyesight, probably something mundane like a cobbler or a blacksmith or maybe a watchmaker.

Depends on how rich my family was. If we had money, I'd be one of those science-y types living in a university. If we were poor, one of the above mentioned trades.

If my eyesight wasn't gimpy, I'd probably be a soldier.

I've thought about this too. I think i'd be dead by now.... but if I wasn't, i'd be a vagrant, infantry grunt or a stable man workery type person all depending on whether my theory that starting at computer screens for most of my day has in fact made me blind..

Defo an outlaw with a six-shooter on each hip and a rifle in my arms.

Robbing banks, stagecoaches etc, the cliché kid they'd call me! :pac:

I'd be spending my days picking rocks out of fields to grow potatos on the Dingle peninsula (not the job I'd want, but given my family history, the job I'd have had). Mind you, I'd probably be married, with kids, and a house I built myself for next to nothing.. and I'd be able to speak my native language.. so it wouldn't have been all bad. :)

With my family history I'd be popping babies out and washing men in a big tin bath in the evenings after they worked hard in the South Wales coal mines. I'd have to cook and clean and bake bread and shít and go to chapel on Sundays with a bonnet on my head and pray in Welsh.

I'm very often glad I was born now and not 200 years ago!
