Post up a spec, is that a 320mb 8800gts you have? No harm uninstalling the driver, cleaning out with Driver Cleaner Pro and then reinstalling fresh nvidia drivers.

This is a score from my old Pentium 4: 3929 3Dmarks
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=397005.

I had a score similar to yours using a 7900gs and a Core2Duo but my CPU score was higher and my HDR/SM3.0 score was much lower.
Still I'd say that setup is playable at high settings on a 1280x1024 resolution for something like Company of Heroes?
Argg, crap score for me.... think my processor is holding mine back but the machine's a freebie. Would've really expected more for the spec however considering the scores people are posting but maybe my PSU could be causing it too or maybe the machine's a pos.

I can post a full spec or can anybody offer any suggestions on how to improve it without doing the obvious stuff.

You'll be happy to know i've junked my old machine (now for sale :)) and built another. Ran 3dmark yesterday and got 10500marks. Pretty happy with it and the service from hardwareversand also :) Went together really nicely and I really can't fault it in any way.

    Hi there,

Just got my new 9800Gx2 today. Started small benching a bit. Not sure the system would be stable in games though I think I pushed the card a bit to hard, no glitches though.

    CPU
    E8400@4Ghz 500x8 (ORB results say 4500Mhz) Stable 12h+ Prime95
    vCore: 1.4v

    Idle: 30 (Realtemp)
    Load: 50-55 (RealTemp)

    GPU
    OCuK 9800Gx2@750/1500/1100

    Dont know temps yet.

    Ram
    OCZ DDR2 PC8000 2x2GB KIT, ReaperX HPC@1000Mhz 1:1

    3DMark06
18680 (results does that link work?)

Going to sit this weekend and see how far I can push this system for a good score but its not going to be stable hehe.

    /c0rn

Pedro. You need to be pushing that Q6600 a little further, ;) What cooling do you have?

    Hey Rip,

I did post a thread regarding my clock speed. I am using a Tuniq Tower 120 to cool the CPU. You're right, there is certainly room for more clock speed but I had already spend a while building and installing all the software to it and just wanted it running at the time lol.

I might have a dabble around with it tonight if I have time, it is a bit of a tedious process so i'm reluctant to go near it again haha

    Tuniq? Tedious? Baaah. Nonsense. :) Set 1.45 vcore, and 400FSB x 9multi = 3.6Ghz. What board?

Asus Striker Extreme! Concensus seems to be that 3.2ghz is the max to go if you want a reliable clock and the best benefits? I could be wrong though! In addition, while I like my case, it isn't the best for airflow or cooling so would be reluctant to go near 3.6ghz unless it was just for a max 3dmark run

While clocking mine i've left the vCore set to Auto and it seems to scale and adjust the voltage nicely. But when I have a go tonight will be manually setting vCore.

Pedro. With respect. Presuming your ram can go to 400Mhz 3.2Ghz is considered on the lower end of the spectrum. With the Tuniq and and the temps you already posted I can see 3.6Ghz. 1.45vcore with "Load line Calibration" set to enabled.. and your away.

See the screenshot below. That rig has been on 24/7 100% load. (7 days since I last restarted it, but in total several months). I am using inferior cooling to yours. A Thermaltake Big Typhoon.
    You have no excuse. :)

Wow, that's pretty impressive. Is 71 degrees not quite high thought? I think they shut down at 75? But still, if it's been at 100% load for a week my machine will never be under load

I'm getting peer pressured into melting my new machine haha :D Will definitely have a go at this tonight. I think most of my fear comes from when I melted my AMD Athlon into a board from buggering a setting about 4 years ago so forgive my caution :)

Baaah. They'll thermally trottle around the 95C-100C mark... or there abouts.

They were always meant for use with a standard Intel cooler.... and that ain't too good. Chips can withstand more heat than you think. It drives me insane guys worrying about "ZOMG!!!! Its at 65C Waaaaaa":pac:

The chip Normally runs higher temps when I'm running another program on it. Just so happens that the simulations I'm runing on it now don't use the processor as heavily (read efficiently) as it should... so its a little cooler today.

However..... that said,,,, you'd be advised to go into Maplins and get a small 60mm - 80mm fan and sit it on your GFX and connect it up. have it facing into your Northbridge. That will rule out NB getting a little warm at 400Mhz FSB setting..

OCed to 790/1100 brought me to 15235, i'm catching you pog :D got a feeling dual core will keep me from beating you. unless i get a 100% OC to 6 ghz lol.

Just to update you guys that offered me help. Spent the day doing a BIOS flash and some timing and frequency adjustments on my machine and although it took me the best part of 3 hours, I am more than happy with the results. For those of you who have a Strike Extreme board and don't have the most up to date BIOS, I would recommend the latest version (1504).

Rig 2 from sig, i just changed the Video card from a X1950xt to a 8800GTS and almost 2,000 points more. Not clocked... cant wait to get Rig 3 up and running will then try and break the 10k mark.

    3dmarkabd2.jpg

I should be able to push the CPU and GPU a little more but I'm happy enough with this so far.
The CPU won't go too much further though as I'm approaching the FSB limit on my board I reckon.
