I passed my IST :D actually quite shocked, as I really felt I had failed the darn thing. Lesson learned that I should have a bit more faith in myself ;) Hoping for good results for everyone still waiting!

Yay! Well done :D What date is your A/C?

    Hi Redsurfer,

I know it must be frustrating awaiting your vetting from the Gardai but from what I know, its vetting office is understaffed and also the construction of T2 at Dublin Airport may slow up the process as many contractors await their vetting to work airside on this construction site. Best of luck though.

hi cabbage thanks for reply but what do you mean by dublin airport and construction:confused:

Congratulations. When's the A/C? Remember not to be too specific with the details though.

If I ever come out of a test thinking I've aced it, that'll be the day I screw up.

There's construction work going on at the airport. The guys working onsite need to be security cleared (vetted). This might be what's holding up your vetting from the Gardai.

From what I'm told, you get extremely over-priced shorts, track suit bottoms, 2 t-shirts and one fleece. Not optional. The t-shirts and fleece are badged, the shorts and bottoms aren't. One of the current S/O's will know how much it costs. Didn't have it in my day!

Wouldnt worry bout the physical part, have you seen some of those walking the beat? lol. As long as you are half fit and not a beached whale you should be fine

Im sure il probably never make it to Garnerville, but the fitness aspect is what scares me the most. I literally cant run!!!!! But after the A/c if things seem to be going well il start and get fit!!! I can hear people saying "start now, dont wait until then":(:(

PYG (as you now seem to be affectionately known!) I am not taking the mickey here, don't wait to start training! Getting fit is the one thing you can do today that will help you at training. Believe me, passing training is one thing, passing training and getting fit is another. Just build up slowly and I promise you'll be glad you started later down the line. Keep putting it off and you'll be too late. Go on, get the Rocky theme on your ipod ;)
For the comment I read (not from PYG) about the state of some coppers on the beat. Well, just because they may be unfit doesn't mean that everyone else has to be. Know what I mean? :)

Dont worry, I couldnt run the length of myself at the minute, really unfit. No point doing anything till I know if I pass the A/C. If I do then its out running and exercising for medical. Im not in the slightest bit fat, but for anyone who is carrying a bit extra, even people who are on the lowest level of obesity can pass. In the old days you actually had to be fit, no longer

    To JVB

I was just trying to put PYG's mind at ease by pointing out some of the wasters who get in so not to worry. Besides, if people struggle in Garneville, they try to help you, its not a case of thats it your out. There is lots of support, well, so Ive been told lol

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice on the old fitness.

Ps, 'PYG' - I like it!!!!

    :):) Keep smiling everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

I passed my IST horrrrrrah just...so heres a dilema

I came home today and ive just been offered a training place with Strathclyde Police. Starting August.

Now im really confused, Scots Police was just a backup in case....but there training facility is top rate, so is training. So is the force...

I can come home via easy jet..so im not worried about the relocation process, plus i dont have any comitmnets here.

This is a spanner in the works..a nice one but a spanner none the less.

    What you think...

well as you say you have no commitments and it is a top class service, the only question you really have to consider is whether you want to!

crime is very different in Glasgow than it is here and it is possibly the most challenging force in terms of common crime, drug addiction and violent crime, it most certainly is a place where you can test your ability to the highest order.

it must be said Glasgow's a great city to live in with alot to do, although in my opinion it is nowhere near as friendly as here and I can honestly say I would miss the comforts of home!

I finished my degree last Friday, got back on Tuesday and I am starting up in Garnerville on Sunday and i must say that I'm ecstatic to be home.
