wonder could i ask for a recount :D

Awh, sorry to hear that. Not sure if they do recounts or not, worth a try I suppose! Maybe PSNI would know!

Far as I know there are no recounts. It is marked twice by two seperate people and the final score is likely to be correct, and don't think they allow it to be checked again.

Could be worth a chance, but I would say if you failed by 1, then you have probably failed by 1.

learn from it and pass next time, not many get it first time round.

Thanks a million for all your kind messages of commiseration, they are truly appreciated. I will be trying again next year the minute its advertised, as this is truly what I want to do with my life. And forewarned is forearmed as they say, next time round I will be a bit more confident and know what to expect. I also have heard that they are bringing spelling and grammar back for next years tests. Woohoo!!! English was always my strongest subject!!!

To all those who passed and those who are still waiting on C13 - I wish you all every success. Special shout-out to PapaYankeeGirl, you rock sister!! Get to Garnerville for the both of us!:D

I will still be here, lurking in the background watching you all progress thru C14. Go out there and get 'em!!!

    Thanks again everyone.

Over and Out ( but only til next year!!!)

Sorry you didn't get it this time round - and to miss by one mark must be even more annoying! Better luck next time ;)

    hi all

i called up vetting yesterday and they said that im still being vetted:mad::mad::mad::mad:. ( bloodly lazy ass gardai ) was wondering if anyone else out there waiting on vettting too or just had it sorted.:confused::confused:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 246 ✭✭Maura2145

did i pick that up right that 51 was the pass mark?

    Hi Redsurfer,

I know it must be frustrating awaiting your vetting from the Gardai but from what I know, its vetting office is understaffed and also the construction of T2 at Dublin Airport may slow up the process as many contractors await their vetting to work airside on this construction site. Best of luck though.

I have been watching the forums for at least 4 weeks prior to my IST and although Im new to you I know you all quite well!! (How creapy am I? lol)

Anyhow, enough is enough... after much reading I have finally been motivated to Register and Post. My motivation here MrsGeneHunt. Im was absolutely shocked to learn that you were unluckey enough not to get through. I really wish you all the best and I was very happy to see the support from the other members.
Secondly, to PYG... Well Done, I am delighted your through and just to let you know you are not as annoying as one individual claims, if anything you are very entertaining and illustrate quite well the thoughts I have as I now wait on my IST results. Perhaps your the reason I havnt posted yet; no need to!!

I done my IST on Tues 13/05 so fingers crossed for the next 3 weeks or so.

Repeatedly picked on 'PYG' for being enthusiatic about getting results of her IST. And then moaned some more. Think he was told to knock it on the head by 'PSNI' cause he was borderline 'trolling', but he couldn't help himself. tut tut

Are you in two campaigns? I havent thought of that, is there any advantage to applying twice?

I think psni mentioned the next campaign starts in August so anyone who missed out this time wont have long to wait and will have a head start in the next.

yeh im still in two, i was on the phone to occupational helath last thursday, they said i had been entitled to my medical on april the 2nd!!but i never got any contact about the medical, trust the police:)! i had to write a letter of appeal but i was assured i will still be entitled to a medical.

if you complete the ac succesfully, it actually says in the letter its in your best intrests to keep reapplying as it is a long painful annoying process:D!

Apparently when you're about 14 weeks (PSNI - correct me if I'm wrong) into your training at Garnerville you are asked to list your 4 preferences. The PSNI will try to accommodate this, but I guess this is something they can't make promises on.

No idea if you have to remain there for the full probation period or not. Can someone else help with this?

Surfrunner & Lady Vi - congrats

Dont think you have a say, but they put you near to where you live but not too near for security reasons. Im from Bangor and most people I know normally get stations like Lisburn Road, Castlereagh, Musgrave Street etc. Busy Belfast stations but not too dangerous unlike Woodburn, Antrim Road, New Barnsley etc. which they wont start you in

I passed my IST :D actually quite shocked, as I really felt I had failed the darn thing. Lesson learned that I should have a bit more faith in myself ;) Hoping for good results for everyone still waiting!
