Cheap region-crackable external DVD?

Any recommendations for a cheap region-crackable external DVD?

I watch films from all over the world, and a lot of the films I watch are not available in the same region - for instance, my dad was in a couple of obscure old American films not available in this region, and in obscrure English films not available in the American region - etc, etc.

The whole region coding thing is insane, a cartel and a scam anyway - why don't they do it for CDs as well as films?

agreed, about time the EU actually outlawed this practice

I don't think it's up to the EU; it will eventually fade as more and more people download films to get around it, I suspect.

The film companies will realise that they could make exponentially more money by ending region coding and also making films available cheaply online.

But meanwhile, I have to get a cracked or crackable cheap external to watch foreign films, since my Macbook is region-crippled.

If anyone can suggest a reliable, cheap, cracked or easily crackable external I'd be grateful.

Has this been moved from the Mac forum by some officious mod? I need it on the Mac forum because the external DVD is for use with a Mac!
