Dustin might struggle to get through actually as the UK is not allowed to vote for Ireland in the semi's aparently.

    BBC News
Semi-finalists have been divided into two groups based on their usual voting preferences in a bid to lessen the impact of "neighbourly" voting.

Traditional voting allies Greece and Cyprus have been split up, the former Yugoslav, Baltic and Scandinavian countries have been separated, while the UK will not be able to vote for Ireland.

    Good idea.
I reckon they should get rid of the public vote altogether though.
    Its the only way.
Why does there have to be a public vote for everything these days?

    Eurovision winners from last decade.
    2007 Serbia
    2006 Finland
    2005 Greece
    2004 Ukraine
    2003 Turkey
    2002 Latvia
    2001 Estonia
    2000 Denmark
    1999 Sweden
    1998 Israel
    1997 United Kingdom

Damn those eastern European country's like Finland, Greece, and Turkey
    and their block voting:pac:

The eurovision has always been rubbish, a lot of people only seem to have copped this when we stopped winning.

    I dont think so.
Now I didn't bother to check the scores given in the semi's but this is what the UK has given Ireland over the last few years:

    2007 - 0
    2006 - 8
    2005 - n/a
    2004 - 7 and Irelands only points
    2003 - 12
    2002 - n/a
2001 - 5 and Ireland only got 1 other point
    2000 - 10

    not great is it?
It was last year when we needed them to give us a dig out,we even urged all the polish here to get there families back home to vote for us remember.

Wondered why I couldn't find the score for last year, but that was an unusual one for the UK to give Ireland nothing, but it was a rubbish entry and only Albania was daft enough to give any points.

I wont be watching this....but I still think Ireland will win....only because of our complete piss-take of the competition and what it has turned in to..

I hear Dustin was booed in his rehearsal and it wouldn't surprise me if that's the live crowd's reaction. It's a sh*t song and the people who rate it highly are bonkers. I predict Dustin will be disowned quicker than a smelly fart in an elevator.

"Ah I always thought it was crap you know..."

Of course its sh*te but in fairness sh*te novelty acts tend to win in recent years. I dont think Dustin will win but it will be a laugh. He has also gotten huge publicity around Europe - more then any other act apparently. One rare thing he does have in his favour is he is likely to appeal to children. Presumably kids are the actual biggest voters in the 'competition' pesturing their parents to vote for them.

However I dont think he will make it out of the semi's for the reasons I already mentioned. That and his act does not appear to work on the stage. Instead of looking funny it looks rediculous which is why I think this could be a little too embarrasing!

Dustin is obviously taking the P!ss outta the eurocrap, and hey, anything that piisses dana off is good with me! I was unfortunate enough to see the French entry, can anyone explain that? is the guy supposed to be jesus? and at one stage he seems to have his face 'blacked-up':confused:

Please God let Dustin win so that Dana (and that awful Johnny Logan and Linda Martin to a lesser extent) can get off their high horse. (Just one horse, they share.)

I Think that Because we havnt won in ages were just kind of goin, "TUT, its only Eurovision" but if we would have one a couple in the last few years or even be in the running do you still think we would nominate a singing Fcuking turkey to represent our country? its all a joke now i know but when we were winning all the time it was the best thing since sliced bread:rolleyes:

The Eurovision is outdated, and harks back to a different time; Italia 90, Tayto crisps; Gay Byrne; Courtown; Dunnes Stores; taking the bus; being ****e at rugby and no-one following it; 15 channels on the telly; no Sky or NTL digital; swimming pools; snooker halls; live music venues; record stores; two ****ty stadiums in Dublin; not being able to get a taxi at anytime; Catholicism; walking to school; the Gaeltacht; no internet; no Ryanair; no alcopops; etc. . .

and this, a truly great song. . .
