How does the ignore list work?

View somebody's profile and click to add them to your ignore list, and the dirt is gone. Unless somebody quotes something stupid they said, i think

Yup, but if you've already decided that the person doesn't have anything to say that you deem worth listening to, you'll probably skip over their post anyway.
That's why I don't use ignore, I prefer to see what idiots people are making of themselves

Agreed. An ignore list smacks of a combination of arrogance and inability to get on with people.Imagine how far you'd go in the real world if you were ignoring half your workplace.Pathetic really.

I can read it fine :)

EDIT: Ah. The OP. Need more coffee.

I've never bothered using the ignore list. Anyone who uses it is taking the interweb too seriously and needs to grow a thicker skin. There are a few utter gobshites here on boards, but I enjoy reading their posts because I laugh at how screwed up they are.

I wonder if his whole office hates you too? He pm'd me to inform me that his entire office despised me. Charming character really.

I heard nothing from him. That said, I wouldn't blame him. I live with me, I know what its like.

That would be him, and the collection of porcelain dolls on the desk under the stairs in his parents house?

    Rb,
I never sent you a PM stating that people in my office hated you. I do not use the PM system. I do not work in an office. I said that people I work with read that particular thread in the dome, and came to that conclusion. I posted it. Considering what else was posted in that thread (including your utterly disgraceful comment), I think it was mild. Anyways I took your advice and put you on the ignore list. Your in my 'tard list of one!

Aidan, I have taken you off my ignore list. I realise you dont care either way, but it was unfair of me to publish it. Sorry, me bad.

Well I'll tell yez this much, anyone who signs off there post with their name at the end instantly goes into my ignore list.

So if I'm scanning thru a thread and see something like...

"hey you should really try some green tea, it flushes out the system and promotes natural harmony vibrations.

    brian"

    BAM! ignore list.

    Boo-ya! I'm on a strangers ignore list. BAM...BAM..BAM!

I can actually seperate the internet from real life.

Wow, amazing. I keep getting the two mixed up. I thought I was in virgin megastore the other day, but then I realised I was only on their website! I was like, woah!

    It's childish.

Don't get too worked up now, it's only the internet....

I would stop doing it but some mudafuka who only posted 5 times in 2003 got the name before me so i'll have to take it this way. Name stealing FTW!

I think the whole ignore thing is a load of cack.

I've never used it - I know RL people who do this when in groups - they're assholes - end of.

I'd hate to think that if I put a bit of effort into replying to a thread that the OP had me on ignore.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭Pen1987

I dont use the ignore list... but I hate all the gob****es who say 'Yore ma' to everything on this website. The joke is old. very very old. It's predictable and no longer funny, especially on this website.

Awaits somebody to reply with a 'Yore ma is predictable' - 'Yore ma is no longer funny' - 'Yore ma is an old joke'. Highly original.

(Dont bother with the 'yore ma's highly original' either, or 'I didnt bother with Yore ma last night' now seen as I've now uttered both)

I've none. Don't hate anyone on the interweb enough to do this tbh.
    It's childish.
For people that have many does it not interrupt the flow/logic of a thread if a regular poster is on you Ignore List? What's the point in that?

    + a million

Its an internet forum, i.e. not to be taken too seriously.

I've 29 on my ignore list at the moment, don't need to list them out for all to see.

Says more about you than the people on your ignore list tbh.

    Still got a laugh here.

Didn't even know there was an ignore function tbh.

I had two people on it at different times. Took them off because it actually broke the flow of threads.

Not fair to name them because I don't actually dislike them as such, just that their posts (especially one of them) always made me cringe.
