    Hi all,

Just a quick one, can anyone suggest some decent suppliers/makers for me please?

I'm based in cabra, D7. I'd prefer to source and hand pick them myself rather than go through a club. If there made locally or brought from up/down the country is of no signifigance to me, I just need some decent timber.

    Thanks in advance,
    Richie

From what i know there is a hurley maker in Lucan, But have to narrow of a handle on top, just doesnt suite me. I have an O Connor of Cork, from past experience you are much better off ordering hurls from the country, Dublin hurls arent great but give them time.

I know if i am getting a new hurl i will go for the hurley maker of Dan Shanahans or Eoin Kelly (waterford) i dont no who he is but the hurls he makes look very well!

Well I went to KK Hurleys and Accessories

Seen him in the golden pages of all places.

Nice man, brings up 3 different shapes from 3 manufacturers in Kilkenny. Though 2 of them are quite close in in style IMO. Also does repairs but said lately he hasn't had time to commit to this.

    Anyway I bought 3 X 35" hurleys(€20 X 3), 3 grips(€3 X 3) and his own branded sliotar(€6). €75 Total

Happy with the hurleys in general, good timber with no knots or mystery grains, all finished well and mildly treated with oil(Linseed I think). Mine were exactly what I was looking for: Lovely defined shape, good grain, nice spring and a good balanced weight and feel to them.

I'll be going back and I'd definitely recommend him.
