Anyone notice? Why does he have to write his name on everything? Seriously if your viewing this forum you are a complete muppet. Its not nice to write your name all over public property.

It seems this idiot has graffitied everywhere. Whilst it is wrong to give this muppet attention id say he is responsible for at least 10% of all graffiti in Dublin. The new M50 the latest.

If I caught him, by jesus, id murder him.

What do you think of Graffiti - Is it art? or are these low lifes just vandals?

Hit search. There's a thread from a while back that deals with this particular individual in detail. If I remember correctly, 'grift' was revealed to be a girl.

When graffiti is good, it's really good. When it's bad though, it's a f*cking eyesore.

The overwhelming majority of graffiti in Ireland is horrendous. Last time I was around my home area, I noticed the walls in the hidden lanes spray painted badly. Honestly, if I caught one of the local kids doing it I'd break their fingers and drag them back to their parents kicking and screaming, then get the owner of the wall to present them the bill and ensure their kids coughed it up.

"Tagging" is the most common form of graffiti in the country and it in itself is f*cking awful and done by pathetic, attention seeking kids who deserve to have their fingers broken and be dragged back to their parents kicking and screaming and presented with a bill.

I'd love to see tougher measures put in place to prevent it, it's degrading and embarrassing.

    Firstly, it's illegal.

Secondly, it's defacing the public property and making my nice local area look like shít. Why stand by and watch as they spray shítty tags on the walls of the neighbourhood? The Gardaí would do little about it.

Maybe Dublin City Council should hire Banksy.

whats worse, graffiti or dragging kids home and breaking their fingers?
Whats worse again, some paint sprayed on a wall in a manner which is not aesthetically pleasing, or having a total stranger take the law in his/her hands vigilante style and use capital punishment?

Always compared Tagging like the dogs that pee on every pole.

Dublin could however make available some walls where talents can show off without the fear of being prosecuted. This has been done by other countries.

I despise it. Baseball bats and broken fingers are possibly the only way forward.

Current frame of mind leads me to say - its not really a big deal- just a shame about the rubbish graff... do murals people. something artistic if your going to all the bother at least make it worth stopping to look at!

Bilboards look like shite, so we should be able to put shitty graffiti where ever we want.

    Great argument

I can not stand Grafitti. Some of it looks good, where Grafitti has been done by an actual Grafitti artist. There is one near the tara street station that depects how society has changed.... Its good, not sure if its still there though..

Tagging though is not art, its simply scribbling rubbish and makes an area depraved and seem more ghettto than it probably is.

Ever been to Prague? Beautiful city but every single wall or building has scribbles (tags) on them! Every single one!!! Paris is pretty bad too but at least there is some actual art visible too.

I believe there are a few places in Dublin where the council provide grafitti walls.

I think there is several "Grifts" or "copy cats" around the city. I have noticed several different styles, some very poor quality others were "more professional".

Milan too. Such a pity, because the city has gone to endless efforts to make the buildings retain their old renaissance look, then some crappy signatures ruin it. Apparently, the italians don't take any real notice of it

Spray painting is worse :) I'd have no problem in seein the offenders lose their spraying finger for a first offence, with a hand being lost for any subsequent offences.

Anyway, if I did see some kid doing it, I'd probably spraypaint them head to toe.

Some idiots tried spray painted their names on my hedge once. I mean a bloody hedge for God's sake? Now I don't normally advocate eugenics......

@biko, about that last fella that you spray painted gold. What did he do? Spray paint his name on the wall bigger than 300*125? :D btw he looks a little like Jack Nicholson

Good graf brings some form of social commentary, or at least some form of creativity. I love good graf, I mean love it, I collect pictures of it. But tagging is just plain lazy. I'd still prefer everyone had free reign to write whatever they felt whereever they went for a period of time and see how a city would look after it, when you could just stand at a bus stop and read some randomers ideas and train of thought, than have all these ****ebag adverts constantly trying to sell things all over my eyeline.

Some of Grifts murals are solid, the batman one and the Bart one on the Maynooth line into Connelly, there are defo copycat. Kids who thought if you were a graffer who had to write the 'word' grift because it was EVERYWHERE haha

Tagging is the most retarded thing ive ever seen.

'oh yeah man, i just wrote some unintelligible scrawl on that stop sign, man, i TAGGED it, yeah, im raging against the machine and fighting the power!'

****ing retards. Grift should be forced to clean every single piece of ****e graffiti off every wall he/she has sprayed on using his/her tongue as the cleaner. And then beaten with a crowbar.

I have never seen "Grift" anywhere..maybe thats because i'm from cork..

Ah but I'm not a total stranger, the kids and their parents in the area know me well. I'd rather see some vigilantes out and about keeping the streets clean than the walls covered with crappy looking "tags" tbh.

I'd support this if I thought it'd stop these "artists" spraying their shíte "tags" everywhere. Sadly, given that they're pathetic, attention starved children, I doubt it would.

But then all amateur art is by "attention starved children", isn't it?! They're be a whole park full of it in Stephen's green at the end of June.

If we're proposing vigilanteism for graffiti-sprayers, can we extend it to include speeding, bad parking (fvck it - ALL driving offenses), littering and drunk and disordly offenses? Of and of vourse violence. I think...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

some bogtrotting vandals whose work can be seek from Cork up as far as Galway.

They should be identitfied and prosecuted.

No, all amateur art isn't by attention starved children. Those who go spraying their "tag" everywhere they can in an attempt to get themselves known however, are attention starved children.

"Tagging" isn't art. I'll admit there are graffiti pieces that are absolutely art, and a joy to look at, but as I said above, the overwhelming majority of it in this country is an eyesore, degrades the area it's done in and is an embarrassment for the locals.

I would love to be able to do something about speeders tbh. Absolutely love it.
