If you get put down a lot, is it likely jealousy?

I don't want to sound an egomaniac, put I have been ungenerously put down a fair bit, even by a sibling, and I have healthy self-esteem and view of myself.
    .

Is this likely mean spirited jealousy?

youd probably need to give us an example situation for us to comment properly. as dublindude said its hard to say without knowing you.. or anything about you.

Not enough info at all OP, although I have to point out, the fact that you're automatically assuming it's because you think highly of yourself, well there's nothing wrong with that but if I were you I wouldn't be automatically assuming that was the problem, I'd be thinking have I said/done something here, even somethign I'm not aware of.

That you first jumped on the idea that you're self-confident and therefore people are jealous of you....well maybe there is a bit of eogmania going on in your head?

I usually do that to cocky people who I think could do with it. But it could be jealousy too.

Sounds like the OP is getting it from more than one person in which case the majority verdict is usually the correct one.

There is a guy in my class in college who is the most arrogant and irritating nerd i have ever come across he thinks he is cool and makes jokes that no one laughs at but he falls over laughing he talks about things as if he is a gift sent from heaven and thinks he has talent when in reality i dont even know how he managed to into the course.

Now we all bit our tounges at the start of the year and thought sure he will cop on soon enough by the end of the year everyone just seemed to be putting the guy down because he was so up his own arse ! he probaly thinks were jealious of his talent <which he doesnt have> .

So basicly you problem comes down to this who ever is putting you down is a complete ass or maybe you are ?
if theyare a complete arse your going to have to tell them to just cut out and dont speak to you and you wont speak to them
or try find out what about you makes them belittle you like they do. And try find a a way to sort it out.
At the end of the day not everyone is going to get along thats just life.
