    Hi,
There is going to be a simulator coming to Galway on the 22nd of this month.

Meant to be like the real thing assuming the journalist isn't talking sh*te (galway first - Monday). These boats go up to about 60 knots..about 70MPH

Aparently you will have to put on rain gear (provided) as there will be real water for the simulator.

Anyone ever been on it before?

Exactly, those boats (if you can even call them that, they're more like aircraft when they reach speeds like that), are designed for use on a 500m stretch of water with no waves, obstacles etc. These are the fastest yachts period, and even they don't come close to 60 knots.

Top speed for a Volvo Open 70 currently stands at 39kts (i'm pretty sure)..

    Nice one.
I was at the Tall Ships in Cork in 91 as a young lad.

Nice one. Is the race itself coming to Galway or just the simulator?

No sailing vessel has ever broken the 50kt record AFAIK, and only windsurfers have come close ;)

The Irish team will be based in Galway here and should be here in a few weeks.

There boat is just finished or nearly finished. It took 90 men and 40,000 hours labour to build in Hong Kong.

I'll beat you one - I'll be in the boat driving alongside them as they enter the bay ;)

    Ha ha :D

As if you'd be allowed. If you bumped into one you would probably spend a large amount of the rest of your life paying for the damage!

What kind of boat do you have btw? I think I remember seeing you selling a boat on adverts before....if I recall correctly twas a nice one.

Um 'allowed'? I'm getting paid to do it :D

It's a sports cruiser, and yes it's nice :D:D Not the one you seen on adverts though, that was much smaller than the one I have now
