2g sim in 3g phone?

Was thinking of buying an unlocked phone from ebay or expansys, specifically the nokia 6500. Just wanted to check that there would be no hassle using this handset on the meteor network seeing as its a 3g phone & Id be putting a (quite old) 2g sim into it. Also is there any more word on meteor launching their 3g service, &…

re:meteor 3g, they are testing atm, so soon enough
