Well done to The Currant Buns :)

    Fair dues.
It was dreadful football but they did the business.

Going to be big demand for Final tickets

The SH1TE some people go on! What reason do you have to be against Rangers tonight!

This Celtic boll*x that people go on with is just plain stupid and immature!

    1) The fact that my parents returned home from a trip to Florence last night after being taunted with chants of Fenian bastards fro having a drank outside an irish bar.

2)The fact that I love the game of football and what they did last night was a disgrace to the game imo.

3)The fact that three of the clubs fans beat an elderly supporter of a rival club to death last weekend.

4)the fact that I could not go into the clubs stadium without fear of being abused because of my nationality.

Im not a celtic fan, Im a Spurs fan and I watch very little Scottish football. The fact that people feel some need to congratulate rangers even though they dont really feel that way is what is immature to me.

Find me one post in this thread where someone has said congratulations and then followed it by saying they didn't mean it!

Well do elaborate what it is. Rangers aren't the only club with bad sections among their supporters.

sorry rushed repsonse, i do believe alot of people here are giving congrats to rangers that they dont really mean.

much the same as everyone congratulating spurs earlier in the year just because its something new.

I've no idea what you're talking about. I don't care all that much that Rangers got to the final. Nor do I care about Tottenham making the League Cup Final. But it is nice to acknowledge achievements that aren't exactly expected. And lets face it, if it was everyone praising Zenit yesterday, no1 would care that much.

    This debate is surreal.

I know of no other club whose fans behave, en masse and consistantly, as badly and was threatned with stadium closure over their racist singing. Nazi salutes in Tel Aviv ffs.

Their fans killed a guy last weekend.

But we all have to be happy clappy buddies and not call Rangers on their antics, because that is somehow intolerant

Are Zenith going to hammer Rangers in the final? what is known of this team?

All i know is that when they played Everton in the group stage most of the team ended up in the Liverpool club store

The debate isn't surreal, it's downright bloody stupid. This thread is NOT for Rangers bashing, it's for matters on the pitch i.e. the UEFA Cup.

If you want to continue this shite then start a new thread, preferably not in this forum

No, the debate has partially moved on to why Rangers are disliked in Ireland and Scotland and in particular why some posters are cheering for them.

No football thread is ever going to be unique to matters just on the pitch. Why are Rangers a sacred cow?

Back seat modding? The thread has been derailed to the point that the talk of actual football is non existent. I was merely pointing out that thread title states nothing about sectarian debates. There are still people about who actually want to talk about UEFA Cup football.

Never said they were. I'd be of the same view if you were Rangers bashing. The thread has been derailed completely.

If people have a problem with posts, they should report them.

    Not complain on thread.

Fair enough if it appeared that way and I'll have no problem editing the post if the mods so wish. My intention wasn't to 'tell' anyone what to do, juust point out how OT it's gone.

Maybe it's time for a UEFA Cup Final thread anyway.

Its his choice to not want to see political rubbish in a football forum. Obviously he knows his opinion isn't binding, and it didn't appear to come across that he was trying to make it so. But this is a forum about football. There are forums about many other things. If people want to have political and religious debates I'm aware there are plenty of forums on boards.ie that would definitely facilitate that.

Now, I don't know about you. But Xavi comes onto the football forum to talk about football, and so do I. A thread about the UEFA Cup semi-finals is not a thread about sectarianism and why people do or don't hate Rangers/Celtic or any other team out there, and in my opinion shouldn't be treated as such.

Hold on, the Moscow as a venue thread is entirely about potential trouble. The CL final 07 thread discussed in depth the Liverpool fans antics. But we can't discuss Rangers as a club and their fans because that is 'sectarian' (and I have seen no sectarian comments from anyone on this thread). The subtext of 'rangers bashing' derived from people asking why there was support from posters for Rangers, which in turn derived from the 'anti-football' discussion.

Politics is a part of football, whether it be international footie or derby games. That is life. On boards.ie, Rangers will get a hard time. That is also life.

Why are Rangers, and their fans antics on the way to the UEFA cup final, such sacred cows?

I disagree with the threads you mentioned too. Except for the 'Moscow As A Venue' thread because its clearly labelled as to what it is. If there was a thread labeled 'Rangers And Their Sectarian Ways' or whatever you'd like, it'd be fair enough I guess, because anyone that has no interest doesn't have to go into that thread. But when its stuffed in with a thread about a football match where as far as we know nothing happened of note, thats pretty irritating.
