Michelle- I like it. The drawback is that half of my age group seem to have the same name. In primary school, there was one other in my class. Secondary, two. College, four! My mother said she picked it as she thought it would be original.

I'm not a fan of my name (Jane, obviously!) but I suppose it could be worse. It's not a popular name these days (because everyone is calling their kids Jade) so in a few years it will be cool and retro. (I hope!)

    HAHAHAHA! Love it.

I like my name - Laura. My surname is French, but I don't have a french bone in my body.*

*nor do I want one (before some smart frenchy asks!)

I'm guessing you were born around Christmas with that name? I know a Christina that was born on christmas day, and 2 Stephens that were born on stephen's day.

The thing that bugs me the most is that i wasn't even born at christmas - i thought for years i was called after my dad (noel) until he told me he called me after an ex-girlfriend - duno how my mam let him away with that - so i'm the non christmas noelle born in march!!

    wahey!! NOT!

Everyone knows me as Tommy, obviously shortened from Thomas, and I was named after my granfather so I'm happy enough with it. It's not too common a name either. Only problem is "Tommy" is so informal that I've never had a nickname :( Also, with my middle name being in honour of my late uncle, I have the unfortunate initials TLC... (cue "Everybody needs a bit of TLC!!!")

    Mark

Plain, simple, yet I'm quite fond of it! Started meeting a lot of other Mark's recently though - before I was the only one and felt bad for the four David's in my class...

Pamela, I like it :) Was my great granny's idea as my nanny was born on palm sunday but a relative had died so they called her after the relative, so she asked my mam to name me Pamela. My mam had to warm up to it first lol

I used to not like my name (Dónal) but I've grown to like it a lot.

It does get annoying when you go away though, since most people pronounce it like Donald, minus the D.

My sister knows a girl called Quintana Rockella. Think the parents expected a boy and just made the name fit?

A Christmas baby here. Carol. Not all that common really. There's a lot more Caroline's around. They were not very original giving me Stephanie as a middle name though.

Nadine. I quite like my name. I've only met a few people with the same name.

It's Nadine, though. Not Naydine. *shudders*

    Mike (from Michael)

Named after my uncle, who tragically drowned 1 week before my parents wedding:(

    I was born 9 months later...:p

Never got to meet him, but delighted to be named after him!!

    Another Richard here.

I never liked being called Richard, When I was a wee one I couldn't pronounce the letter "r" which caused a lot of embarrasment.

And it can be shortened to so many different things, I never know how to introduce myself so I usually just say Richard, even though hardly anyone calls me that.

To different groups of people I'm Rich, Rick, Dick, Richie (which I hate), and, for some reason, Ricman to a lot of people.

Colin. No I don't really like it, but most people call me 'Col' or 'Colly' anyway which I much prefer. People pronounce it wrong all the time - I absolutely hate being called Colm.

My surname is three syllables and I dislike it more like it either, I've often thought of changing it but I don't think my dad would be too happy being the only male child..

I like my name, its uncommon enough so I never went to school with another me. However I always have to spell it for people. People that arent Irish have never heard of it and look at me like I am making it up on the spot. I like it though.

If I was a boy I was going to be called Jason, horrible name (apologies to all Jasons out there).

I think my name is quite nice, but I'm not sure if it suits me.

I don't know if I've ever really felt like a Christine.

I think I would have preferred something a bit more old fashioned, like Evelyn. Suppose it's too late now though :P

I wanted to be called Elizabeth but was stuck with Evelyn. The alternative would have been Monica which I definitely don't like. Even 45 years ago Evelyn was old fashioned. I never met another in school either. When it came to naming my own daughter I called her Elizabeth. In all her years in primary and secondary school she's never come across another Elizabeth. Funny when 80 years ago there were heaps of them.
