Kerry, far and away the most beautiful place in the republic, i dunno, for some reason I just find the scenary in Connemara very depressing, might be the rain but even without the rain it's so bleak.

Other than Tallaght, I do like Wexford.

    Some lovely beaches.

    Especially Kilmuckridge.

Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula and anywhere in Wicklow. Good for the soul.

Best place in Ireland? It's got to be under an Irish woman.

Under an Irish woman set your standards higher...Under a foreign woman in Ireland is more like it. Or up a chimney.

What I meant was with the new rules requiring a passport to travel between the North and the 'UK mainland' it may as well not be.

    1. There are no such rules.
    2. Even if there were, it wouldn't change what is part of, and not part of the UK.

    but

    3. Northern Ireland is also part of an island known as Ireland.

    Just to clarify the obvious.

The place that had the biggest impact on me was Great Blasket Island, just astounding...

Nicest spot for a holiday and just to chillax is West Cork, out by Baltimore - you don't get the tour bus croud, and I know almost every side road in the place by now.

Nicest place to live? I really really like Dublin, and if I had the money the dream gaff would be a large apartment with secure parking in Dublin 2 / Ballsbridge, Ross O Carroll Kelly style.
(Wouldn't mind the golf TD red focking I to go with it...)

Tis a beautiful spot alright. The missus' parents have a gaff just outside the village and we spent many a weekend down there over the past few years. Great craic during the summer.

I'm sure a lot of Dubs would go for the Kilmuckridge/Blackwater/Curracloe area of Wexford alright, they seem to take over the area in Summer. Plenty of nice beaches and a few good pubs.

I'd have to go for Co. Kerry - pony races in Dingle, Couminole beach, Ring of Kerry, Killarney, Ventry beach etc. Love the place.

Would go with Westport personally, as it's a GREAT gateway to so many other wonderful places - as in: anywhere in Mayo, really :D:D:D
Achill Island, Croagh Patrick! and Galway and Connemara are just a stone throw away :D

    Can't go wrong with Westport
