Needle diameter for tongue piercing?

Anyone know if it's possible to pierce the tongue at a thicker gauge? 2.4 or 3 mm or so? I know it's not CRAZY thick, but I'm planning on stretching it a bit, and was just wondering how big it can be pierced initially. Thanking you in advance!

It is possible I'm sure, whether it's safe or not I don't know. Best bet is to ask a piercer and see. You have access to an abundance of them on IAM, ask there or local places.
