What is the best compliment in security?

I have avast and spyblaster and I want to get rid of one of them. I also have comod firewall and hijack this. I but never use tidy .exe dss.exe.

What is the best MIX and does anyone know if having spyblaster and avast compliment each other or cause problems.

Having two anti-virus programs will cause a conflict. You can have as many anti-spyware programs as you like though.

I think avast is antivirus and I have comodo firewall which i think has a antivirus built in. Could that be causing a conflict?.

    SpywareBlaster and Avira won't conflict

If Comodo has an anti-virus then it will conflict with Avira, however I think it has an anti-trojan scanner, and not an AV, so there should be no problem

    Best combo imo is

    Comodo
    Avira
    SpywareBlaster + SpywareGuard
    MBAM and Dr. Web Cureit

All free and all considered the best in their field pretty much

    + 1 for Avast.

Avira has a lot of false negative results for viruses so it scores poorly overall against other AV products. Avast is less intrusive than AVG so is now the leader in the free AV market.

Could you have Comodo , Avast ,

I think avast and comodo might be incompatible, But that is just my opinion and isn't based on any facts or feedback.

I'm running both Comodo Personal Firewall and avast at home without issue.

I'm running both Comodo Personal Firewall and avast at home without issue.

The help section in comodo states that comodo defence + is so good that you may never need a dedicated anti virus program again.

I think that avast is slowing matters down. I know that the computer runs fine but do we need two anit virus program's. The only avantage to avast is the scanner and there are plenty of scanner's already available such as on comodo. tidy.exe dss.exe and hi jack this which dont take any of your system up.

I know Avast is good but it isnt a firewall and doesnt really serve a purpose other than to run a scan now and then. It does run behind the scene's but isnt that the job of spyblaster.

avast is antivirus. Spyblaster is antispyware. Comodo is a firewall. All of them serve different purposes and should probably all be run at once.

I wouldn't listen to the marketing spiel of anyone if they say that their defenses are enough by themselves, there are plenty of other avenues besides network based infection for something to get onto your machine.

comodo is an anti virus or so it claims and actorseekswork has said that two anit virus programs could cause problems.

Comodo antivirus is their AV, misread and thought you were talking about Comodo Personal Firewall. I had stated though that I was using their firewall, which doesn't have AV functionality.

I think comodo's anti virus can be switched off using defense +. Should I do this.Does anyone know if that will work.

Unless you are using the paid "PLUS" version, you will not get anti virus functionality with Comodo. Defence+ is a HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System) which, if used to it's full ability, can stop viruses in their tracks. This is why Comodo themselves say you might never need a dedicated antivirus
program again. However I'd still highly recommend having one. So to answer your question, yes you can leave Comodo and Defence+ turned on; they won't cause any conflicts with other antivirus programs. Unless you are using the PLUS version.

Just an update on that. I think Avast and comodo conflict slightly. If you have comodo and Avast then knock off defence + permanently and restart.

I noticed my computer is twice as fast. BH it is much faster ( noticebly so ) and internet pages shoot up in milli seconds instead of actual seconds, load fatser and so forth. Avast doesnt need two anti-virus programs and it just makes it bulky and arkward.

I believe that Avast slows down the computer because it is so much bigger, although seems ok in the background when defence + is off.

Try it and post the difference.
