eircom netopia router to connect ps3 to internet

hello, i cannot connect my ps3 to the internet through vodafone 3g on laptop. i have laptop and ps3 connected into netopia eircom router and internet sharing enabled, given the ps3 an ip etc but it wont connect no matter what i do, just to eliminate this thought i have........ can this work or would the netopia router be…

i've also tried hooking them both to a hub but didn't work either
