    Never mind he's back.

Arsenal are very poor the last few minutes.

Gonna be a great result for Liverpool

Stunning goal from way outside the box.
    Poor from both teams otherwise.

Gutted at that, should have won. Good result for Liverpool, it is going to be difficult for Arsenal now, though they are certainly capable of scoring at Anfield.

Hleb was very disappointing. I thought Fabregas had a good game, as did Clichy and Gallas, who kept Klinsmann very quiet. Toure should have done better for the Liverpool goal. He's a great CB, but not of Sagna's class at RB.

Great result for Liverpool. Im happy with it. Liverpool MOM for me was Kuyt. Thought he was fantastic. Skrtel, Aurelio & Mascherano also played well. Very disappointed with Babel & Alonso.

Wow, Arsenal, what are you doing.

Bendtnar, what the hell is wrong with you?
Ref, how is that not a peno?
Hleb, what an amazing run, but shocking game overall.

Liverpool get a goal from one moment of absolute magic from Gerrard, what a player, and Dunphy wasn't far off with Torres getting very little to do anything with tonight.
Gerrard though, amazing performance, he did one thing wrong in the entire match, and defended from the front.
Alonso, when was the last time he played well? He's a shadow of the player he used to be off, him leaving to Real doesn't like that bad a prospect anymore for Liverpool.

p.s. Kuyt typifies himself tonight, with a goal from hardwork, and then utter utter utter terrible play at the very end of the match. If you got a decent player with his work rate,
    he'd just be amazing.

This tie is still wide open. away goal means Liverpool could try and hold on, but I think it'd be stupid. Arsenal ripped Liverpools defence apart at times, not a surprise considering Carragher was playing RB, and Hyypia and Srektle were in the middle.
Arsenal beat Liverpool 3 times I think from a route 1 ball, that's just silly.
They had one of their first choice defenders playing imo, maybe two if you include Arbeloa. If they play that back 4 in Anfield, I can't see Arsenal not scoring.
Still, it's gona be an exciting return leg.

p.s. Grant is ****. Chelsea will still go through, but in spite of him, and because the players they have are just class.

    Great defending by Bendtner
Also go George, know that offside rule!

Caught me and all :( Well spotted Liamo. And well done on the impartiality....haha :pac:

Brilliant run from Gerrard re the goal. Babel was awful. MOM for me was Skirtel, always in the right place at the right time and not only defensively. Walcott threatened alot in the first few of the 2nd half but faded afterwards.

    .

Eh? Skirtel was on fire, Carragher played well.

As for pt 2, it will be either

a- An Arsenal win via poor pool defending and crap attack

b- A chronically boring Pool defensive affair ending in penos which I feel on past Reina form Pool would win

    c- Pool massacre of Arsenal

Arsenal were average, but I really cant see c happening.

b not possible unless the return game ends in a 1-1

How else does a game go to penalties?

option b "A chronically boring Pool defensive affair"

    read 0-0 shut out! :p

I can recall many one-oners that have been excruciatingly boring.

Maybe not chronically, though. That is of course an entirely different level of boring. Maybe.

0-0 does not have to be boring it must be said.

what are people's opinions on the Hleb claims for a peno? i felt it should have been given myself. the arms were up and made contact, which is a foul no matter how light the touch.

Liverpool always seem to get the rub of the green in europe.

Good result for Liverpool, though to be honest they offered nothing in attack, will be interesting to see what approach they take at anfield. It was a clear penalty, how the ref did not give

I do think Arsenal will score in the second leg, but I also feel Liverpool might also, I can see extra time.

I can't imagine anyone would argue it wasn't a penalty.

Dya reckon Rob Styles would have given it?

it WAS a penalty and liverpool did shocking in the second half but you can take nothing away from liverpool, they defended well throughout and attacked well in the first, they will go through and they deserve it.Arsenal as usual pass the ball around too much in the box and will pay the price!

Can still see Arsenal going through and they deserve it.

they wont go through and they dont deserve it.They lack a leader and have no killer instint.Multiple chances and the result is a draw.As usual the Liverpool bashers will be out in force.Im a liverpool fan and am delighted,I admit it was a penalty but they had other chances and as usual pussy footed around in the box.Their own fault and they dont deserve to go through.

A curious viewpoint - Liverpool were shocking in the second half, yet deserve to go through.

Arsenal on the other hand, who were very unlucky, don't.

    Hrmm.

We will have to see what happens in the second leg, but based on tonight how can you say that Liverpool deserve to go through, come on mate!

they were tacticaly astute.they held out for a draw and got it.I am a big fan of arsenals and think they play the most beuatiful football but if Liverpool win in anfield and progress,I wont stand Dunphy or the other Liverpool bashers saying we didnt deserve it becuase we did.Its not Liverpools fault the ref is blind.

He was shocking all night,Flamini pulled Gerrard down very close to the box and it deserved a free etc but nothing. He was a joke.

    .

I usually adhere to the maxim "the team that spent the most money deserve to go through".
