Having recently moved to Limerick from Dublin, I am yet to find a decent, comfortabe coffee shop. There are several mediocre ones eg Carlton Coffee and the BT's cafe but nothing special. However, one place that outwardly looked quite inviting was Greene's on the corner of William Street. Once inside however, was a very different story. Despite not being especially busy there was an almost absence of staff. Once they finally arrived on the scene, the lady at the sandwich counter scowled at me for several minutes before actually serving my food (I kid you not!). I stood at a till to pay and was told coldly to "go find somewhere to sit". I repeated that I wanted to pay and was told bluntly that the bill would be brought to me. When my coffee finally arrived, it wasn't what I had asked for. It took 10 minutes for the correct coffee to arrive. I then waited another 15/20 minutes for a simple sandwich, while the place was practically empty! Just as I finally could take a bite, a middle aged woman rushed over to my table and said I owed her 50 cent because they had got the bill wrong as well as my coffee. She then stood over me as I was mid-mouthful for the 50 cent. I actually couldn't believe it :) Never in my life have I experienced such awful service and appalling rudeness. I felt like i was some huge inconvenience to the middle-aged ladies who worked there. I will not be going back!

i hate staff like that! i dont get why they work there if they arent people - people if you know what i mean! how hard is it to be a tiny bit pleasant or sociable?! its my favourite part of the job im in at the moment- seeing customers relaxed and happy after a drink or a meal.
have you tried.. cafe on the row on bedford row?, my favourite place and it has nice staff!or the george on o connell street..i really like it there whens its quiet.. they have starbucks and free wi fi! the staff there are kind of annoying too though, they have that over eagerness to clear your table after 5 minutes! dublin is class for having so many different places!

Another Café On The Row fan here... nice coffee, and good food.

Esquires in the Parkway are great for really large lattes and cappucinos. Nice to sit back and read a book when they're quiet.

BBs isn't bad (if you can get a seat) - nice muffins, average coffee (all types of coffee served in the same cheapie mug).

I think Rubys in the Castletroy SC has improved in recent months too...
