Square 45cm Maplin Dish - Any good here?

Looking to do a DIY dish install for FTA - Wanted an alternative to the traditional dish. We have a south facing house in Newbridge with an uninterrupted view of the southern sky (i.e no houses opposite).

Do you think the Maplin square 45cm dish would do us? Only looking to pick up Astra 2D (will get Freesat box after launch). Also would dish be enough for BBC HD reception do you reckon?

Nope. OK in Fine weather , but no rain margin. Better to get a 60 cm zone 2 dish and hide it somewhere.

Not big enough, sadly. Fine for S. England.

The satellites needed are more South East.

Either will work but only problem with a mini dish is they come in packs of five

The Sky dishes you see around the place are known as "minidishes"

However, that dish in the link you posted would be much superior, with a much longer lifespan.
