Fujitsu Siemens memory issue

    Hi

Recently bought a Fujitsu Siemens laptop in Dunnes Stores. It claims on the box to have 1024mb of memory but when I checked the system it says that that there is only 768mb.

Does this mean that some memory is missing or that some of it is defective ?

Also rang Fujitsu Siemens Helpdesk - they are closed today. How are they likely to deal with this issue. Will they take it back to fix it or will they try to fob me off ?

Check the details of your system again, the system memory could be shared with graphics memory. Say you have 768 of system memory and 256 of graphics memory which would be 1gb overall. Call fujitsu they will sort this for you.

    There's your explanation.

To "fix" it (and it's not a fix, it's how the laptop is made), you will need to go into the BIOS and re-assign the memory. It's not hard to do, and as long as you don't change other settings you can do no damage.

Look up your user manual on how to do it.
