Dawn Of War online issues

Yep I feel your pain Froot. This is a well known and documented problem with the gamespy lobby system used by DoW. Just look at their support forums. I have tried everything. opening ports. Turning off firewalls. Using a modem instead of a router. Apparently routers are the the most likely cause of connection issues. Sometimes i connect to my mates inernet connection when i want to play DoW. Sometimes this helps. Sometimes not. I think a lot of the time it depends on the connection of the game you are trying to join. Anyone who plays the game will tell you that the game lobby system is probably the most unreliable one they have ever come across. The most success i have had joining games was when i was on dialup. There were rarely connection issues and it was surprisingly lag free. I definitely got more games in back then then i could since. Another sulution is if you are trying to connect to a friend or someone you know then you could use Hamachi or some other vpn software. I played a few games this way and it worked quite well. i wish you luck with it. once you start playing online, skirmish mode is never quite as enjoyable again. If you do get it to work, look me up. I play as Pvt_Stash or JakTheHat. I only play standard dow though without the expansion packs. I think the changes made to the game with the expansion packs ruined the game.
