My Mam sticks to this rule religiously. Omelette or fish every Good Friday...although this morning she did ask if I was going to Tesco for a brekkie roll...so maybe I will have a proper dinner tonight.

Don't think the rule really applies in our house.
But I don't really like meat anyway so I probably wouldn't have been having any.

There's a couple of lamb chops in the fridge so I'll put them in a sandwich for lunch. And dinner will be a large curry chips and this chipper puts chicken on anything for a bit extra so I'll get that, also the extra bacon and a meat pattie or 2 to top it off. Am I missed any of the major meat groups?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Sounds like chicken and fish don't count as animals in your household then?

I never got how meat can't be eaten but fish is ok. It's not like a fish is a floating vegetable! Anyway it's roast pork and stuffing for me today and just after having pepperoni pizza for lunch, atheism is tasty.

    Ba-dum tischhhh!

We generally make a point of having a barbeque on the front lawn on Good Friday, though the early March falling has slightly scuppered that one this year.

I detest people who abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday but do not go to Mass every Sunday and also sin and whatnot.

So are you saying you are not a sinner. I suppose since you are without sin you can cast the first stone.

I observe the tradition of only having fish on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and I dont have a problem with it

yup. agreed. im veggie so im good anyway - but fish is meat.. so why is one for of white mwat ok & not chicken? Anyway, regardless... where did it come from, im sure why jesus was dying his words weren't "put the lamb shanks down people"... not bein funny but who made that up?
And, the whole pubs closed - whats that? To uniquely punish the irish way of life :D

I always say I wont eat meat on Good Friday and Ash Wednesday but I always forget and then feel all guilty!

It was going to be fish tonight but I'm going to my friend's house and she wants to get a Chinese and I don't eat Chinese without meat!

There are plenty of other days that I don't eat meat anyway so that might do, right? :p
