    Yeah they will, in fact my jailbroken phone is with them now for repair.

    A US phone that was not activated on an AT&T account but was brought here and unlocked and jailbroken

    I doubt it very much but good luck to you if you have as they are refusing to take iphones that have not been activated with AT&T in the states it would be very odd that they would take one here

    Whats the repair by the way and are they doing it under warranty

    currently whats the best/safest method to unlock a 1.1.4 phone....zphone or iplus or other???

    Can't say what's the safest but I unlocked my 1.1.2otb today with iPlus and it worked a treat. Restored to 1.1.4 and then run the command....couple of mins later it was working.

    Are "unlock that iphone" still in business. Went on to their site but couldn't see where to buy the phone. If not, is there anywhere in ireland i can buy a jailbroken one without contract. I need it quickly as a present.

    Many thanks
    No, I think they are gone but if they are not, don't buy anything from them. They are crooks. Taken €90 from me and i have got nothing from them.

    Cremo - after reading your post again about the iphone ad I realised (and presumed) you are looking for the 'cellular ringtone' as posted by Basquille. If you are looking for the tune that plays get this -

    http://homepage.mac.com/simon201/.Public/iPhoneAd.m4r

    Stick it in your iTunes ringtones and sync etc. Kinda nice as an alarm tone to wake up to, even if you might not hear it as a ringtone!

    I bought one from them in Nov 2007 and zero support and zero response .

    I have a prob now that it is 1.1.1 and a lot of the good apps I liked are "upgraded" to 1.1.3 and now will not work for me.

    I am not willing to mess around "too much " with the phone... it is :

    Firmware 04.01.13_G

    Version 1.1.1 (3A109a)

    Model MA712LL

    Is there any painless way or reasonable service ( Dublin Area) that I can upgrade and remain unlocked. Whais is the latest version I can "unlock to"

    Thanks..

    On the topic of ringtones.........

    I'm right-clicking on a track in iTunes & converting it to AAC, renaming the file extension to .m4r then doubleclicking that to play in iTunes but it doesn't save as a ringtone in iTunes for me:confused:?

    In the meantime, I've been using a free trial of an app called iToner to use as my ringtone maker, works pretty good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,201 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Have you got the Ringtones section displaying in iTunes?

    Before I double click to play the .m4r file? Open the ringtone section? I'll give it a go!

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,201 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    No.. what I mean is have you got the 'Ringtones' section showing in the side-pane in your Library? Among Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts (etc.)? If not, you need to go to 'Preferences' and choose to show it.

    Also how long is the ringtone you want to add? Anything longer than 30 - 40 seconds may not synchronise with your iPhone.

    And finally, what version is your iTunes? As I think i read somewhere that Apple have prevented people from doing this in more recent version of iTunes (forcing people to pay 99c per ringtone). Mine is 7.6.1 and it works.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 594 ✭✭✭Tanabe

    Right well I have 'Ringtones' showing in the side pane of my library and I have iTunes 7 (7.6.1). So maybe it is that the file is too long. How can I reduce it to 30 or 40 seconds worth?

    Thanks for your help.

    Try downloading something like Audacity (google it), load the MP3 into it, cut the section you want and paste it as a new file. Then save it as MP3.

    There's instructions on YouTube if you get stuck.

    you can actually do it in iTunes. Just right click on the song and select info. On the last tab you can edit the track length, then convert the file to aac which will give you a 30 sec clip that can be renamed to m4r. Just remember to change the track length back on the original file. Sorry if this is a bit vague, don't have my laptop with me but I've done this and it works perfectly.

    Highlight the song click file then get info then options change where the song starts or stops

    The phone will be locked

    then download iplus2 and unlock, jailbreak the phone

    Right lads,

    This is driving me crazy! I did all exactly as you have described. I edited the track's length in iTunes then converted to AAC, then renamed to .M4R but it still doesn't go into the ringtone section in my side panel. The file just plays in my iTunes library as normal (even though it's a 27 second clip of the orginal, with the .M4R file extension).

    Headwrecking, any further suggestions?

    No when i do it once I rename the file to m4r it automatically moves to a folder called ringtones and appears in itunes as a ringtone

    go to your c drive then progam files then itunes then itunes resources it should be in there

    or do a search for *.ipsw

    iTunes definitely downloaded it (as it now asks me if I want to install 1.1.4 rather then download it first like it did before) but I can't find the 1.1.4 file anywhere- even when i search for .ipsw
    Does anyone have a link to the 1.1.4 restore file because it looks like I'm going to have to download it seperately.

    My brother on 1.02 need to virginize his iphone before restoring to 1.1.4, can anyone confirm that the method of virginizing outlined in the following link works and whether it is the easiest;
    http://unlockthatiphone.com/virginize.php?firmware=102&modem=1012&unlocked=unlocked

    I also found another method but is it really as easy as:
    "Add i.unlock.no to the installer sources, unlocking tools, install virginizer"

    I am looking for information on the possibility of buying an I-phone on an upcoming trip to New York.
    Is it possible to unlock an iphone bought in the United States.
    If I get it would it be better to get it unlocked there or is it possible to do so oneself.?? Will it be possible just to put IN my existing Vodafone sim card
    in and carry on as before. ??
    I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE AS SURE AS HELL DONT'T WANT TO SPEND € AND END UP WITH NOTHING.

    Thanks

    Buy it in new york, bring it home and unlock it yourself. Just read back over this forum (orusr google) and get all the info BEFORE YOU BUY IT. Its not hard to jailreak and unlock if you know what your doing.

    When done you can pop in your vodafone sim and it will work fine.

    Just to update the thread, my brother virginized, restored and updated his 1.02 iphone to 1.1.4 with a mac using the following instructions I gave him, he said it worked perfectly so anyone on 1.02 can use the following;

    "Set Settings → General → Auto Lock → Never
    Be connected to wifi, open up installer(wait for it to load and then touch the "sources" icon. If you dont see "Unlock.no" as one of your sources then you need to click "edit" and then "add" and then type in http:// i.unlock.no/
    Refresh your sources. (Make sure you have BSD Subsystem installed. If it's installed it's listed in "Uninstall", if not listed, tap on Install and goto the System category and install it-then restart installer)
    Then click the "install" button at the bottom of the screen, scroll down to "unlocking tools" , touch it and you should see"1.02 Virginizer" at the top of the screen, install this.
    According to the website this will take almost 10 minutes to complete.

    Your phone should now be virginized (I CANNOT GUARANTEE THIS METHOD WILL WORK ALL THE TIME AND YOU PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK).

    Right, now that you've virginized you need to restore(not "update) to the 1.1.4 firmware;
    1) Download the 1.1.4 firmware file from the following link on your mac;
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-4313.20080226.Sw39i/iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw
    DO NOT UNZIP THIS FILE WHEN IT DOWNLOADS! I think you should use firefox to download this because safari (i think) sometimes automatically unzips files that are downloaded. Remember the location of where you put the file.

    2)Now, open up itunes and connect your iphone (make sure all your contacts etc are backed up). Press the Option key and click Restore. A file browser window will open. Navigate to where the firmware file was downloaded, select it, and click Open.Various messages will appear while the process continues. When finished itunes should show the activation screen.

    3)Now download "ziphone" from the following:

    http://download.ziphone.org/
    Install it and then just follow the process in the programme, i think you click "do it all" to activate, jailbreak and unlock.
    When finished your iphone should be on 1.1.4 and installer should also be on the home screen"

    My iphone was on 1.1.1 but I have now successfully upgraded to 1.1.4. Before restoring just remember to sync the iphone with itunes so a backup will be created (this means that after you restore with itunes and unlock with ziphone itunes will re-sync everything back onto your phone including text messages, settings, and most other data).
    The initial restore took about 6 minutes, the ziphone unlock worked fine- lasting about 2 minutes and then the re-sync of back up data took about 10-15mins but it's worth it as my iphone is exactly the same as I left it before the iphone- everything is there including sms, email, safari history etc.
    Everything is working perfectly incl youtube, stocks, weather etc.
