I have a '92 Kawasaki zzr 250cc and have noticed that if I push the bike for speed.... when I begin to slow down I hear a huge explosion coming from the exhaust.

Does anyone know what it is and If it is doing damage???

    Thanks

    Sounds like your running lean.

Have you changed your air filter or exhaust system - or both recently?.

Is that a kawasaki Balius zzr250? I sounds like it's getting fuel into the exhaust on the overrun. If it's a Balius get it checked out asap otherwise the piston appear out of the bike. It could drop a valve or worse. Great bike when they run properly though.

Deffo backfiring due to air being sucked into the exhaust. Check all pipework and connections for leaks. Aftermarket cans with poorly fitted joins are the worst culprit. It's unlikely to be terminal if it only happens on the overrun but it will eventually damage the exhaust.
