cant blame grant, you can however blame terry, ballack, cudicini, carvalho, wright-philips, belleti, essien, malouda, cole, bridge all top quality players - says alot about why they play football, couldnt of been arsed.

Does anyone know what weekend the semi finals are on?

I'm going over for Watford's match away to West Brom on April 12th and it just hit me there it might be on that weekend.

don't rate barnsley. easy draws in every round.

What a day. United out but apart from the decisions they should have been good enough to win. The chances they didn't take were in some cases (carricks in particular) laughable, how did tevez not put the ball past johnson...

And then Barnsley, wonder if the chelsea fans who were slagging off liverpool after the last game will be singing the same tune now ? I sincerely doubt it. Fair play to them, did not see it, just listened to it on the radio but from what I heard, they matched them man for man.

Chelsea have pretty much won this cup, but the most interesting thing about this game, is that 6th place in the league now probably won't get a UEFA Cup spot!

    Funny old game, innit ;)

Class. Those last 10 minutes must have been like an eternity for the Barnsley fans. Great to see that a "new" club will win it this year. Certainly breaks the monotony of the same 4 always doing it.

On a side note, what dates are the semis? I am in London April 5-6 and would be class to maybe grab a ticket if that were possible.

What a fantastic day. Didnt think watching Utd go out could be topped, but then seeing a Chelsea team full of muppets who thought they'd win by turning up get stuffed was brilliant.

Great day for the under-dogs and as posted above a new name on the cup after 12 years of the elite winning it.Barnsley were excellent and Pompey defended for their lives and took their chance.

    Great day :D

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but if Pompey do go on to win the cup they'd be a very good bet to win the UEFA cup next season. They're 10 times the team Rangers are anyway and Rangers have been succesful with a similar system.

Its gonna be refreshing to see a new name on the FA Cup for a change.
Also, now that the big 3 are out the title race can really step up a gear!
I have a feeling 2008 will be one to remember

    They are the previous weekend.

    Allright thanks mate.

Anyways, its good to see the tournament so open this year. Wouldn't put it past Boro' getting knocked out tomorrow as well.

Brilliant day for Barnsley. Chelsea didn't look interested at all until the final moments. It's a far cry from the Chelsea team last season that were down to ten men against Arsenal but still fought like lions to try and save their Premiership hopes.

To me that's the key ingredient missing from this team - inspiration. The players looked like they'd follow Mourinho to the gates of hell, yet when things go wrong under Grant you sense a general unease sweep through the team like wildfire. He doesn't inspire them. They've still got the quality but haven't got enough heart.

So when is the last time a team from the top 4 didn't make the semi final, anyone?

13 years ago was the last time a top four did not win

Spurs forest 91 for last time not having two top four teams ?

I may have made a rash assumption, you mean current top four yeah.

just listened to it on the radio but from what I heard, they matched them man for man.
They were immense alright. Really deserved it.

This is amazing :) I was disappointed going out to Portsmouth, but jesus, Chelsea fans must be pissed off to no end :)

Aside from my disappointment about losing out on the treble chance, I'm really quite happy about this. I'm really happy the cup going to somebody not just outside the top 4, but outside any of the classic big clubs!

I'll tell ya, Martin O'Neill must be ****ing pissed off to no end.

Because they should never have been playing ye ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

No, because coming 6th in the league won't get them into the UEFA Cup!
Normally 7th is open to question, but 6th is nuts!

Ahh gotcha, thought you were referring to the theory that they should never have been playing ye but for the fa fix up.

Any word on Van der Saars injury?

Or why Lampard was out for that matter?

I was so disappointed after the events in Croker only for united's exit and fergie's hissy fit to make the pain go away for just a little while.

Quotes from Fergie and Ronaldo (the crap one):
1)Ronaldo revealed a lack of protection from officials had made him "scared" to play his natural game
    2) "After what happened to the Arsenal player Eduardo da Silva, I am scared to do my skills." (What skills you may ask)
    3) Ferguson said after his side's hopes of repeating their 1999 Treble were extinguished: "The game was decided by the decision not to give us a penalty. They had great confidence to hang on knowing the referee was on their side." (Boo Hoo)

    I'm lovin it!
