Yes Ive done this several times!!When you start your Laptop boot from the Windows cd and you wont even be asked for the product key!!

The disc from dell isnt unique!!The product key is if you do end up having to enter it!!

Contact dell and they will mail you a new recovery disc - its just good to have.
