M50 Northbound to N4 East (Citybound)

Does anyone find this a bit nerve wrecking.

Travelling on M50 northbound and taking the exit for the N4, you are then presented with two options.

N4 West (Sligo) to the left and City Center to the right.

Everything is fine up to here, and I usually take the City route at this point.

Then I have to freeflow merge with traffic coming from the West, but this is a bit nerve wrecking, even at 30/40 kmh. The problem is you have to merge left and you don't have much time to do it as your lane finishes in a few meters.

Add in the problem that you are approaching the merge at a angle that is not normal for merging lanes, and hence your left hand wing mirror is useless for the firsrt few seconds.

And finally add in that the lane you are merging into is seen as the "fast lane" to motorists coming from the West going Citybound. I'm not saying its a fast lane, but people would see it that way.

Does anyone know if this type of merging is temporary, or will it become my nemisis on a Sunday evening after driving for 4 hours.
