    This is a tough one. I think I found the right author and googled a list of his books* still don't see one that looks likes it's about a fictional religion...

    *to satisfy my own curiosity, not to cheat in the quiz.

    I think a couple of his books mentioned the Old Testament so I'll guess Kabbalah, seeing as I think that's vaugely related and mildly fictional...
