Hey guys, I'm looking at a speaker for a guitar amplifier that's being sold on ebay america, now i have tried twice to contact the seller about shipping charges to Ireland and have gotten no response, despite the ebay page telling international bidders to email for postage costs. If i commit to buy the item, could i be forced into paying a ridiculous delivery charge or how would that work?
    Cheers

Is it an auction or a Buy It Now situation? If it's an auction have you placed a bid yet? The seller may not take you seriously if you havent placed a bid yet. That could be a reason why you haven't received a reply.

In any case I would suggest that you do not buy the item without knowing the shipping costs. I dont know the ins and outs of the disputes thing on eBay but if you were charged huge shipping and you disputed it and won would it be worth it? Check the eBay buyers guidelines about shipping, it might have some advice for you in relation to whats going on.

You would have no comeback if the shipping charges were not to your liking, best know it before you bid.

I thought it might lead to problems, i'll hold out for a response from the seller so. Thanks a lot for the quick reply lads.

you could also be liable for import duty if it's over a certain value

Yeah i knew that, would still have been worth it though, that kind of gear is hard to come by this side of the Atlantic

If you contact the seller again it's likely they'll take you seriously as you're obviously interested in said item and they'll reply with shipping costs.
