Best Paint for timber Soffit ?

Hi Quick question regarding timber soffit around the perimeter of the house. What paint should be used on this ? An exterior matt or a gloss ? I have a feeling the answer is gloss but I'm hoping not. From past experience, its more difficult to apply and sticky and awkward to use. thanks

Well get a good quality wood primer first if the timber is raw,fill any nail holes with putty prior to undercoating after primer,give two undercoats and I'm afraid use that sticky gloss.....

You can heat up the gloss first by leaving on a radiator (careful fumes), this will loosen the gloss up a little, or put a tiny amount of white spirits in the gloss to aid you in applying it.
