The reason I want to keep the topic City only is because I want to keep the County forum busy also. Nobody goes there as much as I would like and having local county restrauant reviews there might pick things up. :)

Non-City posts have been moved to the Waterford County Review Topic.

My review of the Spinnaker as per Sully's linky.

I like indian haven't been to Eastenders yet, What's that one in High St. it's changed it's name since I was there last, But I love their Korma.

    EDIT
THe Folks went to Cafe Goa on Saturday night. They seemed to be pretty impressed with it, and would definately go back again.

Sully, I not nit picking or anything but why did you move the review of the Mill restaurant from here to the country thread. It was a very good detailed review and its probably more relevant here than in the Waterford County thread.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 24,073 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sully

Is the Mill in the City or the County? I thought it was in the county, so I moved it to the county thread. If people want reviews of food in the city, read this thread but if they want to read restaurants in the county read the other one. We have two separate forums for a reason, and while we have them I would like to use both properly. Its picking up in the county forum and I think the thread will attract more people and get the forum busier. :) Simple enough. The type of review has nothing to do with where it is, but its location does! :) Anything else, PM me, lets get this topic back on track.. :)

No bother, but Kilmacow is neither in Waterford City or county, but it is closer to the Waterford City.

    Harlequins...

I have to say, my favourite place to eat in Waterford. Great athmosphere, friendly staff, and fantastic food - It dosn't have a 5 page long menu like most other places, but it really dosn't need one - All the mains are about 9 quid, and panini's are about 6.50

All the food is top quality.

My only complaint is that the portions aren't huge. But I'd usually be going for a starter and main. With 2 beers and and expresso for 2 people, it usually works out about about 40 quid... Not too bad.

    Oh, great coffee too.

    (Is Italian btw)

Never been there for dinner but have had lunch there quite a bit - food is excellent and the pasta specials are usually very different from the regular Italian fare.

Think it may be a little too small and cramped for a leisurely meal at night but certainly the place for a nice lunch!

Good point. It shouldn't be in either, but I have moved it back. Id prefer we kept City Reviews here and County Reviews elsewhere.. but ones close to the city (rather not go to far out of the city) can have a mention. If the KK folk don't mind ;)

I'm not great to be giving a review on this because I'm not a lover of Thai food, starter was great prawns & veg in a light batter partner had mixed starter( bit of everything) very nice I had duck it was ok bit to much soya sauce but this could be me partner had jungle curry and liked it alot, service was very slow but it was a busy night,
I did notice when we arrived we were told our table was not ready would like to take a seat in the bar/ order a drink while there every couple that arrived was told the same thing, also when we received our bill at the end of the meal we were charged for a pint a vodka & mixer that we never ordered
    2 starters
    2 main course
    1 glass of wine
    1 bottle of wine
    1 pint
    €93
    pretty good price I thought

Went to Mount Juliet tonight with the girlfriend. They had a 5 course meal on offer for valentines at 65 a head, but we just used their normal menu which had more choice. Just said id mention it, since its half way (kinda) between Waterford and Kilkenny. We had an excellent meal with very good service

2 starters (soup - large bowl, with plenty of white & brown bread)
2 main course (1x salmon and a gorgeous 1x fillet steak with chips)
2 desert (chocolate sponge with melted chocolate inside, twas very nice!)
Coffee / Cappuccino (with a nice mint chocolate)
    3 Minerals
    €110

I probably should put this in the KK Forum, but I thought id bring it to the attention of those wanting to travel up the road a little - 30mins I think - for a nice meal. Lovely location, we eat in Hunters Yard.

Don't you think this is the kettle calling the pot black with regard to City review's only?

Sorry typo in that. We went with different main courses each - I went with the fillet (gorgeous I tell ya) and she went with the salmon (said it was very nice). Everything else, apart from drinks, were the same :p

Yes. But following feedback, which I like, I made some changes.

    See: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=55141072&postcount=41

Its close, but not to close I suppose. Iv already agreed its more suited in KK but Thomastown is only up the road so I thought the mention would be nice. If you feel its not "close enough" and im being to cheeky, ill move it at your say so ;)

Romantic? Christ, if that's romantic god help me. I spend a tad bit over that on flowers and gifts and I thought that was romantic (got the flowers delivered in 3s every hour till she got 9 of em :p)! Tad bit mad imo, but nice all the same! After setting up the delivery locally I ended up trying out that FlowersMadeEasy crowd as they had a promotion for Boardsies.

But nah, no popping of questions. To early for that kinda thing :p

Not a decent selection of dishes, but most restaurants have something on offer. I believe Fitzpatrick does? Have a look at some of the mentioned places, there websites (apart from hotels) have the menu online!

Not many places for us veggies in Waterford. haricots was lovely but thats gone since a fire last year. Cafe Goa on the quay is good. I like the Indian place in High Street. Sumatra always has 1 0r 2 nice veggie dishes.

I have been eating out in Waterford for years and below are my favourite restaurants:-

    1) L'Atmosphere
    2) Bodega
    3) Emilianoes.

Also like La Boheme too but the major reason why L'Atmosphere and Bodega win it for me is because you actually get specials. A rare event in Waterford, but these restaurants actually VARY THEIR MENU! Amazing for some restaurants to believe - Emilianoes is also guilty of having a menu I could rattle off by heart, but the major reason I love the aforementioned is the "excitement" of not knowing what I am going to eat when I go out.

This is very important the more you go the same place.

myself and my partner have been to the fitzwilton hotel several times and i have to say the food there is fantastic.......the lamb shank is gorgeous, oh and a very nice steak, very big,we pay around 120 for 3 course meal each and 2 bottles of wine(were greedy, what can i say?)very good price. The service is excellent and its never to busy so you can have an enjoyable meal......the only thing is we've rang on a few occasions during the week to book a meal only to be told the restaurant was closed for that night and the menu was available in the bar and so we didnt bother going in ,me thinks there only opening on the weekends now

Reading Deisemums indian restaurants, how about Cafe Goa - It doesn't look much from the outside, but staff 10/10, prices 9/10, food 10/10 - its more of and Indian / European fusion - been there 3 times. Second time I went (2 months after first time), the owner remember what seat I was sat in, what I drank and what I ate !!! Highly recommended

Hubby and myself really enjoyed our meal in Kashmir and will definitely be going back.

We ordered the set menu so had a bit of variety. We haven't been to an Indian restaurant in over 11 years, not since we lived in London where Indian would have been one of our favourite foods especially visits to Brick Lane for the authentic curries.

The service was very good and it was a much cheaper meal than a lot of other restaurants we've been to.

We are going to try Goa and Eastenders.

God this thread is very good :D
