Actually each kid is bringing 49. We felt we needed to limit it to 49 per child! :D

Away with you and yore suspicion ... I am the son of an English teacher.

pa trout insisted we all read for at least 19 hours a day, and there were no comics in our house.

I can also tell you, without googling, what the origin of Mark Twain is.

    Can you

For a bonus point ... name the author of the fantasy series in which Sam Clemens is resurrected along with Li Po, Jack London, and Tom Mix ?

    Nope :)

it was a sounding, or measure of depth of the river ... pilots would lower a pole with markings into the river, and see how far it would sink before touching bottom ... "mark one, mark twain ... etc".

My bonus question still stands. I don't think google will help
