Bunny Hopping

Im really getting annoyed by the amount of times Im getting kicked / banned from public servers for "bunny hopping".

What Im actually doing is using the UAV to locate enemies (as good as a wallhack tbh) and then jumping around the corner and shooting them, which leads to me getting abuse off every idiot in the server for "bunny hopping".

When you look at what Wiki says bunnyhopping is, you can see its obviously not jumping around corners to avoid getting killed and as far as I know in CoD4 they've fixed the physics glitch that allows bunny hopping in the first place.

Argghhhh :mad:

Anyone else had this happen?

You can't bunnyhop in CoD4. They're just idiots.

I have noticed on a few servers that it says no Bunny Hopping in the notices , but I haven't really seen any of it to speak of .... still haven't got my two kills in the air .

Yeah we say no bunny hopping just because it's a phrase people know, we thought people would get the idea. But what we mean is no bunny hopping, dolphin diving or any jumping unless jumping over a wall or something. Just you get smart arses saying that bunny hopping is three jumps or more, that might be so but we don't allow any sort of jumping.

Strange, i've been on a few servers and have seen bunnyhopping without any walls around.

I absolutely hate servers that attempt to moderate bunny hopping. If I happen to join one I usually make the point of jumping around as much as I can , it is such a rediculous rule to try and enforce. I really do hate servers with rules on them. CoD4 is alot better in that respect when compared to any of the battlefield games which had many servers with stupid rules in enforced on them.

Some servers don't want people jumping excessively. It's their server, that's how they want the game to be played, that's their call to make.

Simple solution is to stop jumping excessively, or move to another server that doesnt have a problem with it.

If they're using the wrong word to describe it, that's another issue, let them know their rules are confusing.

COD4 tries to be as close to the real world as possible, munitions that can shoot through walls, guns with real life characteristics, falling too far kills you etc etc...

The only feature that is not so real is the ability to re-spawn after being killed, but it's there for entertainment value.

So with this in mind, bunny-hopping is not really in keeping with the spirit of the game.

I don't think the SAS train their operatives to jump up and down to avoid being shot!

its pretty much a natural reaction by now, due to the old days of UT and BF. Its just automatic to jump around a corner, or when being shot at jump and dive. Keeps me alive so dont really care.

Perhaps you don't use the feature as others do, but I routinely encounter players that start jumping to avoid bullets.
It just makes the kill all that more enjoyable when they start that crack

I do jump to avoid being shot, as does any half decent player.

My point is that it is not bunnyhopping, and having idiot admins kick me for bunnyhopping is really annoying.

I can see why it'd be annoying the first time, but after that would you not just say 'oh, they must mean no excessive jumping' and adjust your playing style to suit? (or move elsewhere)

the reason why people dont like others jumping,
is because these guys cant aim for ****.
and have an even harder time aiming at a moving target.

and yes, if i was in a real battle and someone shot at me, id jump and dive behind the nearest thing to me.

kamikazi is right, its a tactic, and if your good youd use it.

Some people use it some don't. It's rule on our server so just don't, there's 16 thousand servers out there, if you don't like a rule leave, don't be a arsewipe and jump around as much as you can, just leave.

Because he doesn't pay for the server and they do . I can't for the life of me understand why people insist on arguing this point . They pay for the server they can have what ever rules they like and kick whoever they dislike .

Argue about whether or not the rule is right as much as you like but there is no point arguing about why you should have to leave the server or be kicked .

CoD 4 is not designed to be a simulator as some of you seem to think it is, so don't treat it that way. If you are looking for "realism" grow a pair and play America's Army. You will get owned which is probably why you don't play it , buts its one of the most realistic FPS's out there.

I too am in the camp of it's ridiculous to jump around corners. It's looks stupid and it won't affect anyone that's half decent.
I was thinking maybe they could just use "jumping" for hopping walls and stuff, ie. have to see the "press space to interact message" and eliminate people just randomly jumping but it would restrict the game too much.
I'm aware the thread was originally about bunny-hopping but it's kind of drifted this way now.

Have they fixed the glitches.? On the crossfire map they had some brillaint glitches,where you could leave the known map and explore uncharted areas such as a bridge on crossifre or get onto very high rooftops . Is it possible now!. I have seen some jumping from rooftops in crossfire using partch 1.5 in multiplayer mode so it is possible. Just dont know the new techniques.

I don't know what kind of agreement you sign up to with Activision when you get a server , but I know with EA and Battlefield servers you agree to a certain set of rules ( ie stat padding is illegal , so any knife pistol servers that EA see will be shut down. Similarly admins technically cannot enforce rules preventing people from using vehicles if they are on the map etc .). I wonder do Activision enforce such rules ( I really should know if they do or not considering I am responsible for a few servers

) .

Personnaly I think the less admin intervention in gameplay the better. That is how my clan runs our servers and I wish it was the same for others . Provided it is not against anything you agreed to do with activision I fully recognise that it is your right to do whatever you want with the server and I am not telling you what to do. I am just saying that it does really annoy me and I think its a pointless rule.

The Activision EA thing in different here , with EA it was all about the Ranked server status , and for the most part our server was ranked and we had different rules on it and multiplay didn't have a problem with this ...it was just knife/pistol only or stat padding servers that were watched .

Anyone can host a COD4 server so they can have any rules they like on them .

We pay around 1000£ for the servers, that's reason enough for me.
