I think a few of you have missed the point, you are not kicking him for bunny hopping. You are kicking him for pressing the jump button.

Bunny hopping is glitching and is perpetrated mainly by the curious and the cheaters. Its not possible in COD4.

    Perpetrated.:
Thats a slick set of words you used there Krazy. You wouldnt play these games if you werent curious about technology. This isnt your clan and if someone wants to discuss bunny hoping considering thats the name of the thread and if Krazy, you dont like it, then go elsewhere. Just dont call the cod police and get all retentive. If gamers want to jump about buildings doing a virtual parkour then I respect that and I thinks its cool. It has nothing to do with skill game playing or cheating. It's a sport in it's own right. It's a healthy and intelligent curiousity.

Yeah we say no bunny hopping just because it's a phrase people know, we thought people would get the idea. But what we mean is no bunny hopping, dolphin diving or any jumping unless jumping over a wall or something. Just you get smart arses saying that bunny hopping is three jumps or more, that might be so but we don't allow any sort of jumping.

Perhaps you should say that then.
NO jumping or NO dolphin dives. It is pefectly fair as jumping gets annoying sometimes and its usually the youngest players that are good at it.

Bunny hopping (what I though it meant)
In cod4 you jump onto the other player and then onto another players head to get onto a ledge which will get you onto a roof. That is what I imagine a serve notice means when it says no bunny hopping. It isnt exploiting a glitch and it isnt jumping when shooting someone. It is more like leap frogging onto a roof. I havent done it myself so dont shoot the messenger.
Here is a controversial jump. The roof of the rear house in Overlook is neither a glitch nor a bunnyhop. It's perhaps an unfair advantage in a game. Outside of a game its worth trying as it's a very high view of the whole map.

Not what I would call slick, but your entitled to your opinion.

I always played games to enjoy immersing myself in a virtual experience for fun. My curiosity about technology sways more towards understanding the functions and production process of certain chips as well as current developments in Hardware and Software for both Home and Enterprise environments.

I studied in a Games design course and understand all the basic aspects of how a game like COD4 was designed and developed.

I'm unsure of where to start with this. First of all, the thread is really about the pointlessness of kicking somebody for "bunnyhopping", when they are in fact not. I'm unsure of where my clan came into this, since I don't currently have a COD4 clan and I am not looking for one.

As for going elsewhere, that sounds like an argument a five year old would make. You can't make me concede my point simply by telling me to leave this place. The validity of it still stands. In case you don't remember, its that he was not kicked for bunny hopping, he was kicked for pressing the jump button.

A quick google produced nothing, could you point me in the right direction.

Its abusing flaws in the code used mainly for a un-fare advantage over other players and its going outside of the bounds and scope of the game set by the designers. To do it in a game with other players is in my mind no different then using a wall-hack or aimbot, since both do essentially the same thing.

Pressing the Jump button is neither of those points, since its was purposely added to the game. Kicking somebody for using the jump button is more a admission of a lack of skill on their end, mainly an in-ability to raise the mouse to compensate for the movement.

It looks daft but I don't see the problem. Go prone and shoot or jump and knife usually gets a jumper. If they surprise you, then they surprise you. End of. Jumping makes you stand out more on a map and that usually attracts everyone to look and shoot at the movement.

If it isn't technically, bunny hoping. Its still gives an advantage of sorts. But then you play to your strengths, and if you don't have the ping to counter jumpers, nades and spray and pray will usually get them. Especially with something heavy that can penetrate walls. I've seen nades banned from time to time too.
