2004 Nissan Primera 1.8 (Parents) - Car looked New, low mileage but suspension was terrible, and gearbox always played up ..especially in reverse. ..please note: This was quickly replaced by a far nicer '04 Avensis
2001 Nissan Almera 1.6 (Parents) - Good and Nippy (twincam 16v) and actually fun to drive! Passable interior, a mechanic owned her before so is in top condition and running better than the original!

2000 Honda Prelude 2.0i (My First Car) - Quick but refined and definitely nice to drive, she's totally immaculate and I love her! :o

I've test drived a few other cars when car hunting for GF, but suppose they don't count for this..

    2000 Pug 206 1.2 - This one in particular was a dog...
2001 Hyundai Accent 1.4 - All together good but boring, wheel and gear box were very light compared to the larger cars above. Good value.
2001 Corsa - All I can say is it bridges the gap between the 206 and the Accent. "Forgettable"

1999: 1986 Toyota Corolla DX diesel = Got from father, HG went at 160k, not worth fixing

1999: 1995 Ford Mondeo TD = Little sluggish, but wonderful car.

2006: 2003 Ford Focus TDCi = Wonderful car. Still have it and will for a while yet.

2007: 1974 Ford Capri 2.1 = My toy. Surprisingly reliable for its age (although the fact it has a late model Sierra engine and running gear from a Laser helps massively I suspect. Wonderful to drive, drinks petrol when pushed.

Started on 2 wheels, then moved on to 4!

1999: 1998 Yamaha 50cc 2-stroke scooter. Used to cost about £3 to fill its tank from empty :)
2002: 1999 Yamaha Virago 125. Slow slow slow four-stroke v-twin but it looked lovely and had a nice big comfy seat. High maintenance though. It tended to eat chains no matter how much you kept them oiled and adjusted. Also snapped its clutch cable, stranding me at work one day.

*near heart attack occurs upon discovering my five year no claims built on 2 wheels counts for precisely nothing when moving to 4*

2005: 2000 Ford Fiesta zetec 1.25. Fun. Ate an exhaust that was fortunately covered under dealer warranty.
2006: 2002 Hyundai Coupe fx 1.6. No problems, could have done with more power though. Couldn't get insured on anything more than about 110bhp at the time anyway. Got a very good trade-in price for it.
    2007: 2007 Honda Civic ES 1.8 i-vtec. I <3 it. I plan to keep it till 2010 at least.

    My daily drivers :

92 Ford Escort. Pile of poo but it done the job

95 Pug 405. I had it 2 days when I wrote it off on the Mallow Road on a wet morning. Lesson learned.

96 Mondeo 1.6. I would say, best value I got from a car. It had 60k on it when I bought it in 2001(ish), and even at that I'd suspect that it was clocked. I did a further 100k on it over the space of about 3 years. Solid comfortable reliable cheap to run car. Sold it to a friend of mine for 500 squids and his brother wrote it off 2 weeks later.

2002 MG ZS. 1.8. My daily driver for the last 3 years. A very nice car to drive. Looks well when washed. But gives trouble and is practically impossible to sell. Sick of it now.

Other cars that have passed through my hands

93 (I think) Toyota Cynos. Rush of blood to the head. My wife hated it, so I sold it again a few weeks later. Made 200 squids and bought a CD player for the Mondeo.

95 VW Corrado. Bit of a Lemon I bought in the dark down the south of Engerland. It was only the 8V so it was a bit slow. Also, it had been in a crash (hit up the butt). But I loved it. I was going to keep it, but I couldn't sell the MG and I needed the money so I sold it at a loss in the end. I would like to buy one again. A 2.9 or maybe even just 2 Litre 16V if I saw a cheap one.

00 Saab 93 Turbo Coupe. Very comfortable, looked great in black. But the 2 Litre Turbo Petrol engine was a stone ravin' alcoholic. Had a few problems too. Sold it after it sitting in my yard for 12 months.

00 Passat 1.8T. Lovely lovely car to drive, but hard on juice. Not as bad as the Saab though.

99 318is Coupe. This is my big regret. I picked it up off eBay in the UK about 2 years ago. It was a beauty. Flew through the NCT here. I had no intention of keeping it and sold it on and made good money on it. But as soon as it was gone, I regretted it. I have seen it around town since and it still looks fantastic. I still regret selling it.

1998 Ford Escort 1.4 Ghia - great car to start off in

2001 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec - loved this car was great to own, nippy enough too

2003 Ford Focus 1.4 Freedom - lovely cars, great to drive, loved the look, the 1400cc was just too slow and it was the base model with no extras so it annoyed me

1999 Honda Integra Type R - renowned as the best ff car in the world and i'm not gonna argue with anyone that says it, fun!! :)

Loved 'em all. Cars older than you rule!

    ........you're only 19 ?? :D

I was in the trade for about 11 years so I'll exclude an demo cars or cars that I have bought and sold on my own since. I also exclude my parents cars that I used on and off in between. The following are cars I bought with my own money and used as daily/regular drivers.

1977 Ford Cortina Mk4 - Rusty scrap that I fixed up and sold to the knackers !

1978 Ford Escort Mk2 1600 Sport - I drove the cr4p out of it but it was a bad one and fell apart. I never had the time 'nor inclination to fix it properly.Sold to a mate.

1990 Opel Corsa 1.4SR -Bought when 6 montsh old. Great car, did mad things at mad speeds and got away with it. Modified the engine, brakes gearbox, suspension, kept it spotless and then gave it to my mother who used it 'till 2000.

1990 Opel Corsa GSi1.6 - My girlfriend, now wife, used this for about 3 years. It was crashed and we repaired it then sold it to a friend, stolen and burnt !

1992 Renault Clio 16V1.8 - Road rocket, abs fab car with terrific grip and grunt. One of the most fun cars I ever drove, and I drove it hard. Clutch then starter motor were the only problems in 3 years. Sold to a friend !

2000 Pegeout 206 1.4LX-Bought new for wife and got every factor extra available. looked great with 15" wheels, sports suspension and wheel arch extensions.Too flimsy.

1997 Alfa 155 2.0TS - Another great driving car and despite their reputation this one only ever suffered a broken door handle and the usual Variator fault. Did several track days and had lots of fun. Plenty of high end grunt but no torque 'till 4000 which became very tiresome as did hard suspension. Sold to first viewer.

2001 Mercedes C180 Avantgarde-Bought new but dealer damaged it so got rid.
2001 Mercedes C200 Kompressor- Bought new to replace above. Loved it and kept it for 2 years and 45,000 miles. No faults. Very comfortable and great colour -Amethyst Violet

1964 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda - Love this car. Drove it regularly over long distances never any problems. rebuilt the engine and gearbox and used it for 5 years. Still have it though restoring it as a long term project.

2003 Mercedes CLK200 Kompressor- Bought new. Love this car still have it, my wife drives it all the time now. Only fault was pass door lock. Also boot spring snapped which cost €5 to replace. Gearbox switch leaked which cost €8 to fix.

1968 Mercedes 280SE Coupe - My favourite of them all. Drove it almost daily for 2 years, very comfy, enough power, not great on fuel but superb car. Almost finished restoration now and then it will be used regularly again !

1994: Ford Orion: Bucket of Sh!te
1999 : Suzuki Swift (bought new) the 3 cylinder beast as it was nicknamed. It was a handy run about. Past my driving test in it.

2005: Suzuki Grand Vitra XL7: Never had any trouble with it... unfortunately I have out grown it.... not enough cargo space.

Renault 19 16v (bad choice for first car given unreliability and fooking high insurance! - good grunt all throught the ranges though but I doubt if I'll ever buy a Renault again)
Puma 1.7 - (girls car but would go where you pointed it! - pretty nippy too - saved me bigtime on one occasion down the country where I didn't see a big f-off jeep coming towards me on other side of road and was approaching a 90 degree turn onto a stone bridge over river - turned and it just went there with a half inch to spare... if only I hadn't crashed it after that...!)
Mx-5 1.8 '95- what a fun car despite the (again) birds' image... rear-wheel drive a bit scary in the wet and ice though.

    * 1999 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec (Great 1st car. Great fun. Very chuckable).

    * E36 BMW 323i since 2005 (Love this car to bits. Has new block since 2001 (Nikasil issue). Straight 6 very smooth and punchy enough especially with my light 15inch stock 205's on it. It cost a few grand to keep her straight, but great handling, and not too heavy on juice. Road tax a bit of a killer at 900notes.)

Would like a 330d or Mrk 5 GTI or Elise next if I can gather the cash together, perhaps in a few years. Plan to keep beemer for as long as possible.

Alfa Romeo- had most of the range, the only one I really like was a 2.5 GTV which just fell apart with rust.
Audi- had a couple of early quattros, 100 and a 90. Still have an S8 and love it to bits, I like Audi styling anyway.
BMW- had most of them new and old, still have an X5 and an M5 but doubt I'll buy another as I don't like the styling anymore.
Bentley- had a continental, vintage one, years ago and always felt it just short of the mark.
Citroen- had a CX, BX, ZX, AX, a GSA, a DS, a 2 CV, a Dyane, C6, C5 and C4. Tbh the only one I really like is the current C6 and probably not for long.

Cadillac- have a 63 saloon and love the styling.
Daimler- have a couple of Majestic majors and a few sovereigns, just like them.
    Daf- had a 66, heap of sh*te.
Ferrari- had a 412 and a 308GTB, great fun but I grew out of them.
Hyundai- had loads of different ones, cheap and cheerful.
Isuzu- had an Aska, a Gemini and a Trooper, all reliable but nothing special at the end of the day.
Jaguar- had loads of different ones and all of them cost me more than they were worth.
    Kia- as Isuzu.
Landrover- had a Defender and it should really have been called a tractor, had a Freelander and it was really a Rover 414 done up to look like a jeep, another heap by the way. Had a Discovery, another bucket, the only thing reliable about it was it always let you down.
Lotus- had an Esprit in 1990, when it was godd it was great but when it was bad it was horribe.
    Mercedes-Benz- had 122's,123's,124's, 126's, a 250SL, a 500SL and have an SL350. Up to the 126, great cars, after 126 rubbish with the exception of the SL's
Fiat- rust, electrical grief, mechanical breakdowns and general self destruction, Fiat always delivered.
    Porsche- had a 924, a 911, a 944 and a 928, well built but way overrated, even the 911.
Renault- with the exception of the Clio, I HATE RENAULTS, have had most of the range and the cost me dearly.
Range Rover- had a 4.6 that used to lock me out on a regular basis, handled like a pig and drank fuel for Ireland.
Rolls Royce- had a couple of Silver Shadows, have a Silver Cloud, it's one of my favorites tbh.
Saab- had a 9000, 900, i, turbo, Aero and still have a 900 classic turbo convertible, the last of the real Saabs, the modern ones do nothing for me.
VW's- modern ones have broken my heart so I hate them, have a 67 Beetle and 6 mark 2 GTI's, the last of the real VW's.
Volvo- have a 1973 144, had most of the rest too, the old ones were tanks but I love them, the modern ones are Renault and I hate them.

    a polo
    a golf
    bmw 318

although ive only been driving 3 weeks..

1996 1.0L Ford Fiesta, had a lot of problems with this one
2000 1.1L Peugeot 206, ex-student of mine crashed into me in this one
2004 1.1L Peugeot 206, nippy but only a matter of time until I traded after seeing the amount of damage done to the other in the crash
2007 1.4L Honda Civic, i'll be keeping this one for a good while I reckon

    My cars
    1.2005-2007 94 Pug (Peugeot 106) Bought for €400, sold €500
    2.Aug2007 96 Toyota Cynos €2400

    Borrowed from time to time.
    Mitsi Pajero..Mazda 3/323

The Pug.. Ah the Pug, what a classic little car, the 50 horses were great. Great starter car and easy to work on for beginners/no-hopers like me.
Cynos.. Love it. Have the manual 1.3, but feels so much quicker. A light sporty coupe thats chea on the pocket.
