And supporters can't be critical, or have a reality-based opinion, rather than a green-tinted Olé Olé attitude.

    I get it now.

Either say Ireland will win, or get hanged for high-treason

i think ireland will keep it tight with brazil but we might fall short on stamina / pace / formation / tactics.
    And skill, and any clue.

Don Givens is in charge though so that favours Ireland for the win

    Can I take Celtic as a example;

Celtic -v- Milan. If every fan had of looked at stats & form they would have said - MILAN win! NO HOPE of a Celtic win. Whats the point of even going?!

Instead - the fans believed they could beat Milan, they went to the game and cheered uncontrollably.

1-1 last few minutes of the game the fans were going mad - cheering, screaming. Bang 2-1!

There is a time to be critical and a time to be a supporter. IMO you should be a supporter when things are bad. Be critical when things are good.

    Afraid not

The 4 people who voted Ireland did their research and didn't vote with ignorance

While in Croker it'll be all Mexican Waves and English accent chants. "Who aah ya. who aah ya".

Have you been to an Ireland game recently? More to the point, a friendly?

Screaming and cheering? Give me a break ffs. I was at the Holland game, the 0-4, and the atmosphere was absolutely shocking.

I was in Belfield for a FAI Cup match in 2006, UCD vs Limerick. There was a better atmosphere with twenty fans there than at any Ireland game I've been to in recent times.

LOL if you are expecting an atmosphere on Wednesday night, you will be majorly disappointed.

    Bull tbh.

Im sorry James, DesF is level 10 at football and therefore decides whos really allowed to watch Ireland properly.

he laughs at ur pathetic attempt to enjoy a football match with ur son. do u not realise that friendly matches are serious business and that ireland need to learn lessons from friendly games? even if said friendly game involves no manager so nothing can be learned anyway but lets give the FAI some money cos apparantly they have none and isnt that the problem the league of ireland have at the minute..... no money? and doesnt DesF cough out LoI like he is some sort of creature who has a intravenous injection of LoI but is running at 18 times its normal capacity?

now for the bit about how "ppl going to national games wont make a lick of difference to the funds of the LoI teams". yeah fair enough... but I would like to see some money going into Irish football rather then the minimal amount that is gained by our team and 2,000 fans travelling to Kiev for 3 days. and also it might be nice for ppl like James and his son go to see Robinho & co. play on irish soil right in front of their eyes :)

Tickets for this game were available on ticketmaster.ie over the past week.
I thought they were supposed to be part of a 2 games package with Serbia?
If they can't sell with that, what the hell is the demand for the Serbia game going to be like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Wow, its amazing that it went to ticketmaster.

Personally I took the tickets cause I believe in Ireland future, and don't want to lose my place on the list after waiting years to get in :/ I know the only mechanism I have to change is taking away my money, but im hopeful that change will happen anyway

We will be very lucky to get away with just a hiding tbh. A Rugby type score is very possible for Brazil. Too many factors against us atm that no other team could cope with without taking it to the field.

It's a money racket scheme indeed, ah well. Either way my ticket only costed me 7 quid :D

Yay, can't wait got tickets to this. Can't wait to see all these superstars of the beautiful game, Paul McShane, John Douglas, Wayne Henderson.... Can't wait.!

Just wondering - will there be a minutes silence for the Munich Crash and in particular Liam Whelan before the match?

Dunno possibly, but I do know the English are to have one before their game and I'm sure it will, as always, be impeccably respected.

I figured Kaka would pull out, but Im disappointed Pato did. I've seen Kaka play, but not Pato :) Would have liked to see him play.

I'm looking forward to seeing Anderson play actually, should be fun. Also hopefully Robinho will play, never seen him,

What, like Cyprus, or San Marino?

Jesus like, Ireland are shíte, have no manager and are in total disarray.
I can't believe how stubborn you are with this. Player for player we're as good as Poland imo. The difference between that and shíte is enormous. The thing is you know quite we'll we're not rubbish and have a decent squad of players. And no need to go over the Cyprus and San Marino thing again. We had Stan in charge.

Even look at the Czechs. Are Rozehnal, Kovac, Galasek, Polak, Sionko, Koller, Baros better than what we've got? They're all regular starters for the Czechs.

Although he is not playing for us at the moment, hope Gilberto comes back ok. God I hate International week , are Spain playing this week.

Once again agreed. Good point about the Czech team, I wasn't aware we actually had at least the same level players.

For the millionth time, we had a guy called Steve Staunton in charge. Managers are getting paid up to €6m a year for a reason.
