BT Broadband, ISP is Google??

    Hey,

    Had a few problems connecting to some sites, getting access denied because ISP is based in US, checked it up and IP address is coming from Moutainview in California, Google HQ i think? Should this be so, causing me to get access denied to some sites aswell. I didn't know Google where an ISP, i know they have their own network etc

    If you own an IP address block you're an ISP.

    In this case, that particular IP is in Google's IP address block. It looks like you're operating through a Google proxy or something?

    I'd guess peoples database is out of date.

    IP address blocks change hands and databases take longer to up date. Unless 72.14.195.217 is not your IP.

    Scroll to "shields up" and scan yourself. It will tell you your IP.

    It will tell you other interesting things too.

    I checked 78.16.0.226 and it IS esat BT, so you used the wrong IP. You where on some sort of proxy at the time.

    Uninstall any toolbars etc.

    looks like you were using ip-adress.com for that lookup OP.

    78.16.0.226 is your real IP as you pasted above. So you must be going via a proxy.
    Check your internet options setting in your control panel>>>Connections>>>LAN settings. Make sure the proxy box is unticked

    Then again, that site may be giving you false readings.
