In the television series The X-Files, Fox Mulder watches what movie whenever he needs to focus on a difficult problem, claiming that the film is so incredibly bad that it shuts down the logic centers of his brain, allowing him to make intuitive leaps of logic ?

I really should know that. I used to watch that show religiously... Can't for the life of me remember any reference being made to it. Was it Blue Velvet or something?

*edit* I just figured out why David Lynch came to mind. Who could forget Denise...
