Buying Samsung LE32R87BDX from UK - Compatible?

    Hi,

    I'm looking into buying a Samsung 32" LCD (LE32R87BDX) from the UK:

    Someone mentioned to me that there may be an issue with tuner compatibility. It has a Freeview digital tuner and a PAL analogue tuner. Would anyone know if this model can be used in Ireland? I currently have NTL analogue cable in my house but will eventually be getting some form of digital.

    Hi I was donated my folks 2-3 year old england bought jvc tv, very good tv but tuner is fairly useless over here (dublin). They live in England, I was over with my car and loaded in it the boot. The tuner frequencies are not the same apparently. I'm no expert by the way.
    I did a bit of research (a year ago) which was difficult enough on the web or tv shops as ignorance abounded but what I found out was that english tvs have UHF tuners and irish tv signals are sent mostly on VHF. Irish tvs have both freq tuners i think. You can get a external converter box of some sort but theres a lot of signal degradation resulting in poorer picture quaility. One guy in a tv repair place said they weren't worth while.
    Everyone recommended using my vcr as the tuner. All vcrs have vhf and uhf but not all tvs.
    I use my vcr to tune tv signal now, i'm with NTL, and it's a bit of a pain for recording off tv ( You have to watch whats recording).
    Still looking into it with regards ordering sky rather than cable. My thoughts are a skybox could covert signal to UHF.
