    Hey there,
I have just bought a macbook to mini DVI lead to video but I seem to have a problem getting any picture on my TV. Its just a normal TV with Co-axial and SCART input. I have tried connecting with co-axial cable straight to TV and I dont get any picture. I wondering is the picture to be on a special AV channel or are my to tune in the macbook reception??! I have tried both but neither have worked yet.

Any help and I would be gratefull!!!

Coaxial? Do you not mean s-video/composite? Are you using the Apple DVI to Video adapter?

Yes, sorry its actually the adapter that you've mentioned above.

There's so many of these it's confusing but is this the one, a "mini-dvi to video":

Or are using two adapters: a "mini-dvi to dvi" > "dvi to video"?

How old is the tv? Unless it has an svideo input you're probably going to need an s-video to SCART cable or a SCART to composite adapter.

Is it just for watching video on your tv?

Its the adaptor shown in the link above. The TV is roughly 4-5 years old. I was reckoning that s-video to scart would be my best option? Its just for watching video. I was in PC world yesterday looking for such an adaptor but i couldn't find any. I actually thought that the composite cable plugs directly into the aerial socket of the tv?

    This should do the trick:

    http://www.svideo.com/svideoscart.html

It's all-in-one and saves the hassle of getting several different cables/adapters. It also includes audio which a lot of people forget.

Alternatively however, SCART to composite adapters are fairly common, you may even have one already. They come with a lot of game consoles. However you'd still need a phono adapter for the audio. I assume you already have the composite (yellow, white, red) cables?

Actually i've just realized that a friend of mine has that exact cable shown above so I might borrow it off of him to see how that goes for me. Yes i'm already aware of the sound problem but I already have an audio system near this TV that I can plug my macbook into. I actually realized that i was trying to use co-axial into composite-I feel so stupid!!!
Anyway thanks for your an i'll try what you've mentioned above.
