    Anyone know the Terenure result?

Just back from Donnybrook, and really disappointed. Belvo beat Nure 14 - 10, getting their last try in the last play about 3/4 minutes into injury time. Devastated for the lads, it was a great game. I'd recommend watching it at 10 to 7 on Setanta. Great defence from Nure for the last 10/15 minutes, they really did themselves proud. I couldn't see from the stand who scored the tries, looked like the Belvo outside centre scored the second but I'm not positive. They had an overlap and eventually got in. Think Terry Jones the Nure Fullback scored Nure's try, he showed good pace to capitalize off a Belvo mistake.

    Ah well. :(

Yeah was at the game myself, absolute cracking game!! Nure full back was superb, and their backline in general had ability to break from anywhere, best seen in breaks deep inside their own half which ended with their try and another which ended in the Belvo 22 when the ball must have been offloaded in the tackle on about 6 or 7 occasions at break neck speed.

Belvo pack were massive and a really physical side! Some massive hits were going in from both sides, but Belvo's pysichality along with nure's inability to clear their own lines meant about 80% of territory went belvo's way.

Great finish to the game with a try in the last phase of the game to win it, but I think the better team won and nure were unlucky with the tough draw, were a good side who deserved a bit of a cup run.

Belvo discipline cost them a lot in the game and as favourites for the cup, will need to knock out a lot of the errors that cost them if they are to have any chance and change the line up, with their 2 best backs being players who came off the bench. (20 & 21 I think they were) Also belvo No.3 was like Chabal, massive player who walked through tackles and put in a hit that left a nure player on the ground for about 5 minutes, although he went off injured himself just before the end with an arm/shoulder injury.

Also belvo no.7 was superb, aswell as being the penalty/conversion kicker which im not sure I've ever seen a flanker doing before. :)

wish it was a more convincing win but GO ON BELVO!!!!!!!! yeaaaahhhhhhhh

pack is by all accounts great and the backline......not

i feel us being favourites wont do us any favours, we're better underdogs
    (see SCT 2005)

im betting on clongowes, keep it jesuit at least! and one for len moloney

Belvo's discipline was pretty bad and they'll need to sort it out if they want to win the cup. They were lucky to win it today after all the penalties they gave away, so they really need to sort it out.

Also; how old was Belvo's tighthead prop? lol. :p

Actually watching the match on Setanta and it's half time. I strongly disagree about Belvo being the better team. I don't define the better team as having the ball for the first 25 minutes, and after two strong attacks they're 7 points down. For their whole first half out of all the possession the had (which was a lot more then Terenure's), they didn't get any points. They couldn't beat Terenure's defence.

I was there at donnybrook today. Great match nure had an excellent defence but belvo's forwards were amazing. Belvo prop nermin lovic made a massive hit on some nure guy who was down for like 5 minutes. Nure 15 was real good. Kind of ironic that belvo 15 michael keating gets the winning try just like three years ago in the jc final against nure.

if belvo had of bother learning how to pass a rugby ball it would have been a cricket score.

new donnybrook is lookin good, must say.

true that belvos fly half and centres were awful, the sub 10 and centre who came on where the best players in the backs, they should be startin next game wit that, esp the 10 wit the game winning pass. i feel rly bad for nure tho they put ther bodys to the limit and threw them selves and ebvery thing the nure 4 duke is a nut case he made 4 or 5 tackles in a row and killed them all terry jones had some pace to burn too, williamson was quite thoand the 10 had gthe best game of his life belvo defo got knocked down a few knochs after that and all ther pre-cup talk, and will have to the same again vs andrews

yeah duke played unreal...some of hits wer sick. Terenures defence was good but belvo had numbers over a lot of the time and should have probably scored a few more if they had got it wide.

you could say that but nure were up so fast and ready to hit everytime. and the times they did get it wide nure drifted and made soem great covering tackles. i think if the 20 considene started he wud changed the game more, he had the courage to go for a bit and whipped it and stood better, the startin 10 was so flat every time and did a hlaf arse step and go himself he really was ****e. i think we all wanted nure to win(except the belvo heads ofcourse) i really think bevlo have the cope them selves on and stop thinkin the cup is won already like they were like before this game. was just on the bearded props bebo all the ****e he has on it JCT AND SCT champs history will be made, bollix to that like

yeah agree with u about outhalf....predictions for the cup now??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 165 ✭✭leek

even tho i dont like belvo they were my favorites for it. but after seeing what nure can do today, and were 'no hopers' before the game today, why cant the other schools say that. well im on rock and i think we cud hav a chance easy start tomorrow wit gerards, and im looking forward to andrews/belvo i tihkn andrews cud do it if they defend like nure which they have shown they can do, but they have some serious pace in the back 3 and there pack will be able to cope wit theres, and ofcourse CBC have to be up there too looking forward to seeing them play, what are ur predictions?

Or run straight. They play quite a negative gameplan. I know if you've a heavy pack it should be used but for flips sake, talk about an overdone 10 man game.

Yesterday will stand to belvo, the first game in the cup is a real stomach churner no matter who the opposition is.

Kudos to the gick for giving them a battle, i think a replay would have been the fairest outcome.

It just shows that this years competition will be hard fought, there's a lot of talent in this generation (schools interpro champs at 18's and 19's)

Does anyone know how nerm's shoulder is?, it ruled him out of the xmas u-19 game so it must be a recurring injury (probably all that athletics stuff is catching up)

IMO rob duke and terry jones reallly stood out on the gick side , i don't know how duke hasn't been capped by leinster at schools level, he is a terrier.

As for belvo synnot was immense, its good to see a forward doing the goal kicking, reminds me of John Eales (i know - he was a lock not a flanker)

Still, I know it wasn't a pretty game but it was honest and hard fought and showed all thats good about schools rugby.

    and Blackrock 46-10 St.Gerards

a difference in class really. we did ourselfs so proud with an inspired 1st half performance, taking the lead at 7-5 and going in at half time 17-10 down and stil in it. But we got tired and the quality of the Blackrock bench took its toll, we brought on 4th years (not to mention the 4 that started) and they ran up the score in the last 20 mins. The score was inevitable so we in the Gerards crowd just made the best of it and had a laugh.

We were always concentrating on Vinnie Murray anyway.

anyone get the Marys v Caslteknock result ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,608 ✭✭✭themont85

Marys won thirty something 7....bit of a pasting. Castleknock need to up their game in the Cup, whens the last time they've done anything?

34-7, 4 missed conversions - need to improve that big time. 8 points is too much to throw away.
The castleknock try was an intercept, apart from that they never threatened.

Can't really read to much into the result, Marys looked good, their prop is made from strong stuff, he came off for stitches and then went back to murdering knock in the scrums as if nothing had happened

just watched the nure belvo match!

gotta say some bloody defense going in there... didnt think nure were up for it before game, but honestly wiht all that work, i think they deserved it more!!

they hadnt the same size or strength the belvo side had, but they pulled strength from nowhere... smaller guys hitting bigger, then up straight away to hit anothoer...

that number 3 with belvo(beard guy) was massive! was he always in belvo or was he another scholarship?(thinking of vas here) he was brilliant... but wasnt impressed by his tackle on farrell(i think that was his name) didnt take the guy to ground... could of been way more serious! aside from that congrats belvo!

excellent break at end but need to step it up or will definatly lose...
being on someone's line for that long and not getting in there is honestly a disgrace especially considering the size differences, momentum alone should of counted for alot, but they didnt have the same heart as nure...

nermin lovic is the props name , and no- the whole team were in belvo since 1st year...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 59 ✭✭what say what?

    is Nerm's shoulder done in?
he would be a big loss

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 873 ✭✭✭Four-Percent

yeah dislocated or so ive heard... a huge blow since there arent that many props who would be up to that standard in the school

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 59 ✭✭what say what?

if thats the case got to feel sorry for him, not just for the cup, but the ireland u-19s as well - hopefully its not that bad

are u a belvo person - if so - i have a q - whatever happened to that prop from the jct winning team, lionel haybirie (wrong spelling) - did he give up?
