Goodcop, the great thing about internet blogs and threads, is that we can voice our opinions from the relative safety of an office or armchair. We take comfort knowing that no matter what we write (within reason), we do so what a certain amount of annonymitiy. For me, in this instance , this thread gives me a certain amount of information on a specific topic at a certain time, nothing more. Alot of the replies I have read are speculative to say the least, however are no more less important than the next. The one comment I can make with 100% accuracy, is that at this moment you have not failed and are most definitely not boring. The 'hungrier' comment you made the other day, was the funniest thing I have read in a long time !!!!!!!

Goodcopbadcop, it’s good that your holding out hope but also be prepared that you may not get through. As Jerry mentioned there is a lot of guess work here, me being one of the biggest culprits!

I do believe your right and you may not be in the running for this campaign however learn from it and make sure you get in next time!

I wish you well and hopefully I’ll see you in there at some point. If I pass the course! :D

    Martin.

Goodcop best thing you can do is come monday morning get on your phone and call consensia and recruitment on the hour every hour untill you get your answer, and by the end off the day recruitment will know your name. Nothing worse than not knowing.

Could anybody please tell me what the 4 letter means? I have passed medical and assessment before Xmas.

    Hello Monica,

The 4 week letter was a letter from consensia informing people they would hear more word within 4 weeks. If you passed the medical before Christmas you don't need to worry about it as you've already had word going through the process.

Assuming you have actually passed the medical and not attended the medical in December your vetting may be complete also.

if you ring 90 650222 and ask to speak to recruitment they may be able to let you know your number in the merit pool.

Let us know how you get on.

    Martin.

Hey again all, received a letter from occupational health today, the main part of which read:-

In my opinion you do meet the required medical standards and are considered medically fit for the post of Police Constable - Patrol/Probationer. You do not however meet the requirements to enter the Pension Scheme.
This Has been referred to the Chief Medical Adviser for further assessment.

I assume this means ive passed my medical but at the same time due to past illness i am too high a risk for the pension scheme and benefits that go with it, death benefit etc.

Does anyone know who i could contact to get some info on what not being in the pension scheme would entail?:D

    Congratulations Ethan!

I’m sure that’s a big weight off your mind.
I also got a letter today but everything is ok for me inclusive of pension.
    Have a look here
    http://police.homeoffice.gov.uk/human-resources/police-pensions/2006-pension/membership/

I assume you’ll be able to pay the 6% contribution and get the retirement benefits. Not to bad all things considered as you’ll save the 3.5% everyone else is paying.

Have you got your merit pool placing yet?

Let me know how it goes.

    Martin.

I got the same letter today as Martin regarding passing medical, pension etc. Havent checked my merit placing yet though...

Interesting link there Martin, its kind of as i thought, that its possible to have it underwritten that it would be basic pension, which is fine by me.:D

Oh dear, just rang about merit pool placing, seem im in the 700's:eek:
Looks like i will have to be very lucky this time to get in. Ah well, i can always try this year again as i know i can get through medical etc:D

    Ethan,

Don't discount yourself yet. Dependant on your backround you may well be in with a chance.

    Martin.

might give them another call to see if consensia have been in touch yet, i dont care if my number is 900, would like to know it.

good news for all the rest of you getting letters, congrats!

Thanks Martin. Even tho number is high im still actualy fairly happy, cause i know a few places where i went wrong in the a/c, and im quite happy that the bits i thought would discount me ive actualy passed, from that i know i can try again this year if im unsuccessful.

Thanks Goodcop, have pateince cause you may end up getting medical, vetting etc and be higher up the merit pool than me:D

I understand, I was the same.

I was so worried about failing the medical as it was beyond my control. I would also eliminate me from applying again if the same problem was apparent.

Good luck none the less, I reckon you'll be grand!

Let us know how it goes Goodcopbadcop.

    Martin.

Even though I received the "Dear John" letter, I still received feedback on my medical. I would've been considered fit enough for placement and pension.

I may not be getting placed this time, but at least I've got my health! :D

Does anyone know whether I can still expect feedback on the vetting process, even though I've dropped out of contention for campaign 13?

Just curious. I'm thinking about the next recruitment campaign. If I pass the vetting this time, I shouldn't have any problems next time (barring any run-ins with the law).

I think you had to pass the vetting to be offered a medical.

The vetting runs along side the medical as far as I know.

When my partner called to get her merit pool number she was told it subject to vetting but she had passed her medical.

Colt, I wouldn't worry, your medical date should come out in due course. Why not ring Occ health and ask them?

Monica, if you scroll up I have already answered your question and let you know what to do.

    Martin.

300 in the merits with an Rc background. You shouldn't really be that worried I don't think.

Good question but they've got that covered. It's decided on where you went to secondary school and has no bearing on whether you consider yourself now to be a Catholic, Athiest or Jedi.

I'm an athiest from a mixed CoI/Catholic family and went to an officially non-denominational but realistically was Catholic VEC school - I'm presuming this would be lumped in as "Catholic"?
