An update from TA_MOBILE from hackint0sh, whos name seems to be thrown around a lot in the unlocking community:

Sorry about my bad Eng.

After those days, we (Im and Imth) are so tired about all.
1st, as I announced, h/w method is not for enduser whatever. They will very easily brick their phone. That's why we did not public our total h/w unlock method.

2nd, about the secpack113: me, imth (vietnamese) follow all the iPhone jobs from the beginning until now. With the help of GeoHot, who listened to me after my 4.6Dumped (that even really just make all of the experts pay attention to us and let us join the researching). I still remember the day 23/12/2007 me, imth, pspsully and Geohot first time worked together to find the way downgrade bl 4.6, that day 2 pcs of mine gone with no luck. Geohot found out we must have the secpack of 113 to go ahead. At that time, it was impossible. But no matter, cos the excited of being with those experts, I still tried to get 6 more OTB and let them be white mice. 13/01/2008 I unlocked the 1st 112OTB of mine by h/w method. But still not have the secpack cos of no sign about 113fw. That why I posted thread to hunt 113OTB or 113fw. After this, some of Dev paid attention to me.
Luckily, Geohot is the 1st one who sent me 113fw and we were trying to get the secpack113. At that time, I heard some infor that Dev maybe had secpack113 in hand.
With many tried to get the secpack by our own, Geo give me nearly 10 method to patch the fw then put out the ic for dumping .... but still have no luck.

Luckily, after that, I got the secpack from my dumped. This could be have the helping hand of God !!! The fact is Dev team never pretend to sent me the secpack even I tried to ask them.

And so, Geohot should be the 1st I must share this cos of our very hardwork.
A17 new method out. And now I think I can retired.

Honestly, all my passion, all my hardwork, even all my 's gone mice just need to join with the experts ! I know Im still a noob in hacking, even in my normal job. But I just want all experts work together ! If, all of us, can join 1 team, that should be a heaven day.

Finally, all I did, some good, some bad but at least, I did give a push to all the other experts go on.
Thank you all the good guys also the bad guys. I've had so much excited time in Hackint0sh cos of you !

The chances are you have cut too much from your sim card and it is allowing it to move or you are putting it in a little off

use a little scotch tape at the top and bottom careful not to cover any of the contacts nearly sure there is a youtube video of someone doing it so copy that and that should sort it.

Oh ya i no but either way we are always going to be behind.If dont no baseband update we could be 2-3-4-5-steps behind.Have you any news on which xsims are working with 1.1.3 ie iphonesimfreer.The thing about the Stealth we cant figure out but the same stealth works with both uk/us phones so maybe thats why it works and the turbo sim does not.

Sorry Dan I just put a comment on the dangers of adding untrusted sources to the installer i can delete it if you wan to incorporate it into the first post.

Iphonesimfreer have reported that their sim does not work with 1.1.3 don't know how reliable that is or whether they are basing it on the news that turbosim does not work.

What is the best way for clearing personal info like contacts, photos, music etc off the phone, without the possibility of messing up the firmware version??

On the contacts click edit scroll down and delete

On the photos bin them

On the music unselect your music on itunes and sync

OK I managed to delete the photos and music by unclicking the sync folders box in iTunes. You don't seem to be able to bin the photos through the phone? No matter.

On the contacts however, when you go into them on the phone, there is only the add new contact button, no edit button. Trying to do it through iTunes in the same way as the photos and music doesn't work either. I think I would have to delete all the contacts on the Macbook and then sync them again to clear them. I don't want to do that obviously.

Does clicking restore in iTunes not just take things like that off the phone, without going near the firmware??

Thinking out loud here I know but, 'Erase all Content and Settings' in Setting>>General>>Reset on the phone itself?

That will erase content such an the app installer as well i think

If you go to photos a little bin in the bottom right hand side you have to do one at a time

In contacts it is the same select a contact then edit scroll down red box delete contact

Click restore in itunes will reinstall the firmware undoing your jailbreak etc

Right, got it.

1. Back up Address Book on your Mac
2. Delete all your contacts
3. Sync your now empty address book with your iPhone through iTunes
4. Revert to Address Book Backup on your Mac

Create an empty group of contacts and then sync to that

I'm in the states at the mo... Was stinking about picking up an iphone. Is it still possible to get it to run on Irish networks?? I'd read back through the thread but I don't have the time...

Just looking for the jist of whats involved in getting a iPhone working in Ireland...

Phones being sold in USA still have 1.1.2 firmware, therefore by purchasing a Stealth SIM or similar you can have them work over here without any problems

Stealth SIM and similar SIMs work very well, there are reports there maybe a software unlock for 1.1.2, this could appear tomorrow, next week, next month or never

personally I would not buy any of the sim solutions just now at € 90 the stealth sim is too expensive there is a possibilty of a free software unlock in the next week or two.

Hi guys,

I got my US iphone this morning (1.1.2 otb sealed), i'm just going through the downgrade/jailbreak process but am encountering a bit of touble.

It took a bit of time to get ibrickr working (wasn't recognising the phone until i disconnected/reconnected etc.) I don't know if this worked, because the phone didn't restart itself, i had to power it back on and i didn't see the 'Activate iphone' msg. Anyway i just continued wit the other steps and got as far as appsnapp which doesn't install - i get the blue box with the question mark.

So i believe I now have to restore? Since 1.1.3 is out now, i don't want to brick my phone so could you confirm how I do this restore process, please?

With Regards to the 1.1.3 Jailbreak it wont be released until after the SDK is released from apple in fear apple will patch it before then, The Jailbreak still is not userfriendly at the moment so look likes wont be updating to 1.1.3 for awhile.

To restore to 1.1.2, hit AND hold the SHIFT key before pressing the restore button, it will then prompt you for the location of the file to restore

As long as you don't upgrade to 1.1.3 you should ok, just read through the various tutorials and carry it out slowly step by step

I'm jailbroken on 1.1.1 now, so I can upgrade to 1.1.2... just wondering tho, do i actually need to upgrade to 1.1.2? is there any real difference?

AFAIK if your phone shipped with 1.1.2, you need to have it back running 1.1.2 in that the firmware and modem firmware match, plus 1.1.2 fixes things like able to receive text msgs from short numbers, e.g. 171, and most people regard it as more stable than 1.1.1.

If you need a stealth sim quickly let me know as have one spare

Just a correction you do not restore to 1.1.2 if you click restore you will undo the changes made by OKtoprep.
You should first press and hold the shift key and then click UPDATE

Of course before you do any of that you need to download 1.1.2 so you have it on your PC
