junkies are all based in the city centre, along with the wino's ,wanabe hard men,

thats actually not a bad idea as part of a large and long game (over 12hrs or a couple of days), obviously not carrying any airsoft gear until you get to hrta :)

what kind of intelligence you'd need to gather and what the objective would then be when you get to hrta would be difficult to link together though

    A bit like "hitman".

We used to play it until the whole terrorism thing made it look a little dodgy. Basically the game is controlled by one or two people who act as referees then you have anything up to 100 people acting as hitmen. Each of these people is given a card with someones name on it. The job then is the slip that person a card detailiing how you killed them.

If you off them in a really public way it alerts other people to the fact you are a hitman and you bcome fair game as a target, otherwise, you may only off the person on your card.

When you have dealt with someone you then recieve their card (either from their corpse or from the marshalls via email or phone call. The ficitional details of each murder are printed on a web page for all to see.

Its good fun and can last for months especially the final duel. The murders become increasingly spy vs spy with pianos dropped on heads, exploding toilet seats and one man clubbed to death with a 12lb river salmon.

Potentially you could run a similar terrorist/counter terrorist game over the course of a few weeks or months with numerous factions and plotlines (24-esque) wherin information is gathered by subterfuge or force and it is used to direct units on a mock up battlefield at HRTA.

Just distribute pieces of intel and false flaggs throughout a community of players which are divided into groups (either terrorist, countr terrorist, secret government etc). Its up to the undercover operators to gather that intel and pass it to the field commanders at HRTA. The terrorists have to gather intel on who is who in the counter terror groups and eliminate them while making moves to their terrorist thing (ficitionally) against specific targets. In the battlefield you could run Tora Bora scenarios where specific heads of terror groups are located and must be captured or eliminated. Maybe retrieving stolen stinger missles or even Nuke components.

One week the mission is at HRTA. The following week its a mission at G-Tac. The week after it might be a misssion at Drogheda. Then back to HRTA.

    Really, the potential is huge.

    That sounds pretty cool!

Sounds awfully like that "squirt" game that was big in college at one time. 100 players, last man standing wins. You have a photo of one other person who is playing (these people are all strangers). You find them, track them, squirt them to indicate their dead using a water pistol. Then they have to hand over their assigned target to you. If they happen to have collected a couple of targets then all the better. It was good I suppose but there was loads of problems with it and it got a lot of stick from non-players who got nailed because they looked like someone.

Yeah, its an advanced version of "squirt". The college version is very simple and the whole point of the one I'm talking about is to be discreet. If you were going to play the game in a city you couldnt wander around with squirt guns because its wholely irresponsible - hence the cards.

Particularly when someone has the clever idea to use waterbombs as grenades. I've heard of that happening

Meh ... I didnt realise that hydrophobia was common in colleges.

Besides, the concept I'm talking about doesnt use water pistols.

They're students, coming that close to water constitutes washing. You know how they feel about that.

How do you present the card to the person? Like some kind of reverse pickpocket or would it be more like hand it over in a slightly secluded spot?

Depends on the kill. If you were to just hand it to someone in the street it would need to read something like "Bang: Shot with a .45 in the heart" or "Stabbed in the Liver: Sucks to be you!".

However these would constitute a very public kill and it would draw attention to you.

The reverse pick pocket thing is the best idea since you can do things like "Poked with an Umbrella: Congratulations, you've been poisoned, what will you do with your final fifteen minutes?" or slip one under somones front door "BOOM! Some inconsiderate person left the gas on and your house exploded. You're dead."

    Really, the possibilities are endless.

    Interesting idea.

Its worth it for the creativity it breeds. So long as the folks you are playing with arent whingers when they get bumped off then its a lot of fun trying to figure out how you are going to take the next guy out.

Spotted this DVD on my travels today and its officially on my to watch list.

    Shoot Em Up Trailer

For this type of movie its not appropriate to ask if its any good as its
    obviously a pure cheese fest.

Two compelling reasons to watch Monica Bellucci rrrrrrrrrrrrr ;)

God help anyone like me who recognises the late 80s early 90's suck metal band wailing on at the end of the trailer.

Repressed memories aghhhhh go to the quiet place think of Monica Bellucci :D

I nearly picked it up today in that new Zaavi place in Blanchardstown for €22. Might have been worth a look...Clive Owen is always entertaining.

definitely would love to see an interesting cqb site, perhaps an old disused industrial facility of somekind, the problem is finding one and getting your hands on it

I predict great things for Airsoft in Ireland in the next decade with regard to CQB sites.

Once the economy goes into the toilet at the end of the year, there'll be lots of abandoned warehouses and factories to be picked up for a song, and after all the new nuclear reactors Gordon Brown wants to build melt down and coat Ireland with radioactive dust, we'll have lots of ghost towns to play in :)

Kinda fancy an Airsoft S.T.A.L.K.E.R. scenario, meself.....

    WOOOOOO PATS WIN!

Yeah I know I should take that to the American Football forum but damnit I don't care. Was anyone watching it? Does anyone even care that history is being made?
